| Background:Postherpetic neuralgia is a kind of neuropathic pain syndrome, which is the mostcommon complication of herpes zoster.PHN is difficult to treat, severely affects patients’ quality of life, and can last for a long time once it strikes. So far, medications such as lidocaine, anticonvulsants, tricyclic antidepressants, vitamin B12,capsaicin,etc;Interventional therapy;Pulse therapy;Extracorporeal shockwave therapy;Acupuncture treatment,ect.non-drug treatments are used to treat PHN.All of these treatments are effective, but none of them completely curePHN.High energy infrared analgesic meter is a non-invasive non-drug treatment method, its output infrared light uses high efficiency halogen light source as theluminescent body, the light generated by the filter system greatly filters the light which is easy to produce thermal effect on the skin, and only retains a high energywavelength of 0.4μm ~ 1.4μm that the patient can tolerate. The light wave can easily penetrate 7cm below the skin surface of human body and act on the deepsubcutaneous tissue.Through its thermal effect and non-thermal effect mechanism, the heat load on the skin surface is kept at a low level. The light wave can increaseskin surface temperature, tissue oxygen, tissue blood perfusion depth and skin surface blood flow, eliminate pain mediators, lactic acid and bacterial toxins andpromote tissue regeneration,so as to reduce local inflammation and pain relief. Objectives:In order to seek the efficacy and safety of this water-filtered high-energy infraredinstrument for postherpetic neuralgia by comparing the VAS score,NRS score,PSQI score and skin changes of patients before and after treatment. Methods:From October 2019 to May 2021,we recruited postherpetic neuralgiameetpatients who meet the inclusion criterias diagnosed by experienced clinical doctors from the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University dermatologist clinicsand Anhui Ferry Academy of Dermatology. The patient’s skin pain was treated with high-energy infrared analgesics according to the standard operatingprocedures.Ten days of treatment in total, once a day,30 minutes each time.VAS score,NRS score and PSQI score of each subject were determined before and aftertreatment. In this study, statistical software SPSS was used to analyze the results and observe whether the skin of the subjects had adverse reactions after treatmentcompared with before treatment. If the difference data before and after treatment accord with normal distribution, the t-test method of paired design quantitativedata was used to analyze it.If the difference data before and after treatment fall short of the normal distribution, the rank-sum test was used for analysis.P valueless than 0.05 indicates statistically significant difference. Results:A total of 53 subjects were recruited, and 35 subjects completed 10 sessions.Therewere 17 males(7 in trunk,2 in upper limb,2 in lower limb,6 in head and face)and18 females(13 in trunk,5 in head and face). After 10 treatments, the average VASscore of subjects was lower than that before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.001);NRS score was lower than before treatment, andthe difference was statistically significant(P<0.001);The score of Pittsburgh sleep quality index was lower than before treatment, and the difference was statisticallysignificant(P<0.001).After treatment, the PSQI score of female subjects decreased more significantly than that of male subjects.None of the subjects experiencedserious skin adverse reactions, and two subjects reported a burning sensation at the treatment site, but this sensation disappeared when treatment wasdiscontinued. Conclusions:The high energy infrared analgesic device uses water to filter infrared ray, whichhas a positive effect on the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia, and can be used as a safe non-invasive non-drug treatment program. |
