Objective:The aim of this study is to explore the effectiveness and safety of spirit-regulating acup uncture method in the treatment of chronic knee pain, thus providing clinical physicians a ref ference for a better acupoints formula choice in the treatment.Methods:98 patients with chronic knee pain that met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into a experimental group((spirit-regulation acupuncture formula)and a control group(routi ne acupuncture formula). There were 49 cases in each group, and 1 case dropped out in both experimental and control group during the test separately.Treatment was performed every ot her day,and 10 times as a course, with a total of 2 courses in the treatment.By observing and comparing the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)scores, the Western Ontario and MCMaster Un iversities Osteoarthritis Index(WOMAC)scores and Hamilton Depression scale(HAMD),we evaluated the treatment effect of the two methods.Results:1.Comparison of VAS scale:Comparison between groups after one and two courses of treatment, the VAS scores of the two groups were both significantly different(P<0.05).For the within group comparison, the differences for the two groups were significantly different(P<0.05).2.Comparison of WOMAC scale:After one course of treatment, the stiffness scores of the two groups were not significantly different(P<0.05),while there were significantly differences between the two groups in the pain and physical function after one and two courses of treatment(P<0.05).For the within group comparison, the scores of pain, stiffness and physical function scores were significantly different after one and two courses of treatment.3.Comparison of HAMD scale:Comparison between groups after one and two courses of treatment, the HAMD scores of the two groups were both significantly different(P<0.05).For the within group comparison, the differences for the two groups were significantly different(P<0.05).4.Comparison of the overall treatment efficacy :After the treatment, the total effective rates of experimental group and control group were 91.67% and 81.25%,and the difference was significantly different(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.Both the spirit-regulating acupuncture method and routine acupuncture have obvious therapeutic effects on the treatment of chronic knee pain, and both can improve the VAS and WOMAC scores.2.Compared with the routine acupuncture,spirit-regulating acupuncture method has obvious advantages in improving pain and physical function, and a better improvement in stiffness scores after two courses of treatment.3.Spirit-regulating acupuncture method has obvious advantages over routine acupuncture in relieving depression of patients with chronic knee pain.
