| Aim:This study used the Chinese version of the Parent and Child Needs Survey-parent(PCNeeds-p)for palliative care children to test the reliability and validity of this scale and to evaluate current needs of parents and analyze its influencing factors. This study could provide evidence for comprehensive assessment of parents’needs of palliative children, establishing effective interventions and improving the quality of care for children. Methods:The Chinese version of the parent and child needs survey-parent was translated according to the adaptation of Brislin’s translation model and the reliability and validity of this scale were tested by SPSS 23.0 and AMOS 25.0.Convenient sampling method was used to select parents for the survey, frequency and proportion were used to describe the demographics of parents;the mean(standard deviation)was used to describe the current needs of parents’of palliative children and multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the influencing factors of parents’needs.Results:1.The Cronbach’sαof the Chinese version of the parent and child needs survey-parent was 0.745,and the Cronbach’sαof each dimension was 0.663~0.697;the content validity results showed that the range of I-CVI of the scale was 0.8~1.0,and S-CVI of the scale was 0.96.The results of construct validity were as follows. There were 3 common factors in the exploratory factor analysis, and the confirmatory factor analysis showed that each item has a factor loading above 0.4,except for item17,which has a factor loading of 0.39.The total score of the 281 parents’needs of palliative children was 138.65±1.72,of which the score of care team interactions was59.19±8.17,parent-family impact was 57.63±13.43,and patient symptom management was 21.83±7.99.The results of univariate analysis showed that monthly household income,night-time sleep, and caring experience of children are the influencing factors of parents’needs in palliative children. The results of multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level, monthly household income,night-time sleep, caring experience of children, and gender of children have statistically significant effects on the needs of parents of palliative children.Five factors can explain 36.6%of the total variation(R~2=0.415,Adjusted R~2=0.366,F=8.322,P<0.001).Conclusion:The Chinese version of the parent and child needs survey-parent had a good reliability and validity and could be used to evaluate the parents’needs of palliative children. The level of parents’needs in the tertiary A-level hospitals in Shenyang is above average, and financial support and respect from care team for children and their parents were important.Education level, monthly household income,night-time sleep, caring experience of children, and gender of children are the influencing factors of the needs of parents of palliative children. |
