Objective: Microphthalmia-associated transcription factor(MITF)plays a role in regulating the differentiation, proliferation and survival of melanocytes, and more and more experimental evidences show that MITF is related to the occurrence of melanoma. We will discuss the expression of MITF in cutaneous melanoma and the relationship between it and the prognosis of melanoma patients in this article. Methods: In this study, the Oncomine database,CCLE database and GEPIA database were used to analyze the expression of MITF in normal skin tissues and different tumor tissues, the Cbioportal database was used to analyze the mutation of MITF gene, and the GEPIA database was used to analyze the prognosis of melanoma patients expressing MITF.The STRING database was used to carry out functional enrichment and pathway analysis of the protein interaction network of MITF-related genes. Results: The expression of MITF was up-regulated in melanoma tissues.MITF is related to the prognosis of melanoma, and the prognosis of melanoma patients with high MITF expression may be worse than that of patients with low MITF expression. There were 22MITF-related proteins, including TFE3,TFEB,TYRP1,TYR,RPS6KB1,PAX3 and SOX10,etc.The results of enrichment analysis indicated that the main biological processes were hepatic immune response, positive regulation of interleukin-12 secretion, and regulation of Golgi inheritance. Conclusion: This study shows that MITF is highly expressed in melanoma, which may have the potential to become an important prognostic biomarker for melanoma. The prognosis of melanoma patients with high expression of MITF is relatively low. |
