| Objective:To use motivational interview to intervene in the maintenance compliance of patients with chronic periodontitis, and to explore the intervention mode suitable for the maintenance compliance of patients with chronic periodontitis,so as to provide an effective intervention mode for medical staff to improve their compliance. Methods:This study was a randomized controlled trial.Patients with moderate to severe chronic periodontitis who were treated in the periodontitis department of a third-grade grade A dental hospital in Shenyang from August 2019 to January 2021 were selected as subjects and randomly divided into two groups. The control group received routine oral health education, and the intervention group received routine oral health education+motivational interview. The self-developed general information questionnaire, willingness to comply scale,Chinese oral health self-efficacy scale and periodontal index scale were used to evaluate patients’willingness to comply, oral health self-efficacy and periodontal status. Before periodontal basic treatment, patients in the two groups were required to fill in the general information questionnaire, the willingness to comply scale, the Chinese oral health self-efficacy scale, and the relevant periodontal index was measured.Patients’willingness to comply, oral health self-efficacy and periodontal index were measured again at 1 month and 3 months after periodontal basic treatment, and patients’compliance was analyzed after the study. The data were analyzed by x~2 test,Mann-Whitney U test, two independent samples t test, repeated measurement analysis of variance and other statistical methods. Results:There were no significant differences in general information, such as gender, ethnicity, education level, personal monthly income and brushing of teeth, between the two groups(P>0.05).2.Before intervention, there were no significant differences in compliance willingness,self-efficacy and periodontal index between 2 groups(P>0.05).3.One month after intervention, there were statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of compliance,self-efficacy score of correct brushing and plaque percentage(P<0.05).4.Three months after intervention, there were statistically significant differences in self-efficacy,probing bleeding and percentage of plaque between the two groups(P<0.05).5.There was statistical significance in the change of willingness to comply,self-efficacy,probing bleeding and percentage of plaque in 2groups over time(P<0.05).Conclusion:It is necessary to carry out motivational interview in patients with chronic periodontitis, which can improve the periodontal status of patients, improve the level of compliance and self-efficacy of patients. Therefore, motivational interview is effective in improving maintenance compliance of patients with chronic periodontitis and is worthy of application in clinical practice. |
