Objective:The clinical efficacy of the acupuncture method based on the theory of "toning the mind" in the treatment of insomnia and its associated mild anxiety state was observed to provide a theoretical basis for the clinical application of the acupuncture method in this study.Methods:Sixty-four patients with insomnia and mild anxiety were selected for the study, and a treatment group and a control group were established. In the control group, traditional acupuncture treatment was given to Yin Tang,Si Shen Cong,An Mian,Shen Men,Zhao Hai and Shen Yi.The acupuncture points of Baihui,Shenting and Benshin were then inserted in a backward direction, and Shen Ting and Benshin were each stabbed upwards and downwards along the meridian, with the depth of stabbing being 3 0mm below the corrugated tendon membrane, and the twisting frequency being at least 200r/min.Both groups were treated with acupuncture once daily,6 times/week,with a break of 1 day in between,1 course of treatment for 2 weeks,2 consecutive courses of treatment. The changes in the scores of Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Hamilton Anxiety Inventory(HAMA)and Sleep State Rating Scale(SRSS)were recorded before and after treatment in both groups and compared to evaluate the clinical efficacy. The data obtained were analysed using SPSS 23.0 software.Result:1.PSQI score:The PSQI scores of patients in the treatment and control groups were compared between the groups before and after treatment respectively, and the comparison before treatment showed no statistically significant difference(P>0.05),while the comparison after treatment showed a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment, the PSQI scores of patients in both the treatment and control groups decreased when compared with the same group before treatment, and the decrease was greater in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05),which was statistically significant. The difference was statistically significant.2.HAMA score:The HAMA scores of patients in the treatment and control groups were compared between groups before and after treatment respectively, and the comparison before treatment showed no statistically significant difference(P>0.05),while the comparison after treatment showed a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment, the HAMA scores of patients in the treatment and control groups respectively decreased when compared within groups with the same group before treatment, and the decrease was greater in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).3.In terms of SRSS scores:The SRSS scores of patients in the treatment and control groups were compared between the groups before and after treatment respectively, and the comparison before treatment showed no statistically significant difference(P>0.05),while the comparison after treatment showed a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment, the SRSS scores of patients in both the treatment and control groups decreased when compared within groups to the same group before treatment, and the decrease was greater in the treatment group than in the control group(P<0.05).4.Overall curative effect:In the treatment group,10 cases were clinically cured,15 cases were markedly effective,3 cases were effective, and 2 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate was 93.3%;in the control group,9 cases were clinically cured,6 cases were markedly effective,8 cases were effective, and 7 cases were ineffective. The effective rate is 76.7%.The difference in curative effect between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.Both the acupuncture method based on the theory of "toning the mind" and the traditional acupuncture treatment are of clinical value in the treatment of insomnia with mild anxiety, both of which can reduce the patient’s insomnia symptoms and improve the patient’s mild anxiety state.2.Compared with the traditional acupuncture method, the PSQI,HAMA and SRSS scores decreased to a greater extent in the group treated with the "toning of the spirit" theory, indicating that the treatment of insomnia with mild anxiety was more effective when guided by acupuncture.
