Observation On The Effect Of Weijing Ditan Decoction On The Treatment Of Children With Persistent Bacterial Bronchitis

Objective: To observe the therapeutic effect of self-made Weijing Ditan decoction on the treatment of children with protracted bacterial bronchitis.Methods: 39 children who visited Department of Pediatrics,the First Affiliated Hospital of Heilongjiang University of Chinese medicine and met diagnosis of protracted bacterial bronchitis were selected as subjects.They were randomized into the test group(n=20)and the control group(n=19).Children in the test group were given treatment of Weijing Ditan Decoction,and children in the control group received treatment of ambroxol hydrochloride oral solution combined with amoxicillin clavulanate potassium.The course of treatment was 3 weeks.The efficacy measures were scores in subjective cough,scores in TCM syndrome,scores in abnormal results of lung CT examination and scores in lung function examination.Results:1.Comparison of scores in subjective cough: The scores in subjective cough of the both 2 groups were significantly lower after treatment(P<0.05),and the improvement in the test group was significantly better than that of the control group(P<0.05).2.Comparison of scores in TCM syndrome: The scores of the primary and secondary symptoms of the syndrome of turbid phlegm obstruction and diffusing-down-sending failure of lung were significantly lower after treatment(P<0.05).The improvement in the test group was significantly better than that of the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Comparison of pulmonary function test: 11 children over 8 years in both groups received pulmonary function examination.The pulmonary function recovery and obstructive ventilatory improvement in both groups were significantly better after 2 and 3 weeks of treatment,and the number of children who returned to normal lung function in the test group was higher than that in the control group.Results of bronchial dilation test for the 5children with obstructive ventilatory disorder were negative.4.Comparison of abnormal results in lung CT examination: After treatment,16 children in the test group and 13 children in the control group got reexamination of lung CT.Scores in abnormal results of lung CT examination significantly decreased after treatment(P<0.05),and the decrease was more obvious in the treatment group than that of the control(P<0.05).5.Comparison of recurrence: After 3 months follow-up,the recurrence rate was 11.11% in the test group and 42.86% in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.Weijing Ditan Decoction could soothe the cough and improve TCM syndromes and its curative effect was significantly better than amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium for suspension and ambroxol hydrochloride oral solution.2.Weijing Ditan Decoction could improve lung ventilatory function and HRCT and it is more effective than amoxicillin and clavulanate potassium for suspension and ambroxol hydrochloride oral solution.3.Children treated with Weijing Ditan Decoction had significantly lower rate of recurrency than children that took amoxicillin clavulanate potassium suspension and ambroxol hydrochloride oral solution.
