Objects: To investigate the sleep, stress and psychological status of nurses in different periods of COVID-19 epidemic. Methods: This study collected demographic data and sleep related measurements from 446 nurses in a tertiary hospital from March 1,2020,to March 7,2020,and from October 1,2020,to October 30,2020 in Chongqing. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),Zung’s Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Zung’s Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)and the Stress Response Questionnaire(SRQ)were used. The T-test,χ2 test,Pearson correlation analysis and binary logistic regression analysis were selected for data analysis. Results: 446 clinical nurses were included in this study. The total score of PQSI in outbreak stage and remission stage were(6.52±3.89)and(5.54±3.36)respectively,which were higher than that in the national adult norm(3.88 ±2.52)with the statistically significant difference(P < 0.01).During the outbreak period, there were significant differences in PQSI score among nurses of different age groups, marital status, working years and contact with COVID-19 patients. There was a positive correlation between the PSQI scores and the SAS/SDS/SRQ score. The total score of PSQI and the scores of sleep quality, time to fall asleep, sleep efficiency, sleep disorder and sleep drugs in the remission period were lower than those in the early stage of outbreak period, and the difference was statistically significant(p < 0.05).The positive rates of sleep disorder, anxiety and depression of nurses in remission stage were lower than those in outbreak stage(P < 0.01).Binary logistic regression analysis showed that unmarried / divorced status and short working years were the risk factors for nurses not getting better sleep from outbreak period to remission period. Conclusions: During the epidemic of COVID-19,the stress level of nurses generally increased, which might lead to the increase of sleep and emotional disorders. In the face of public health emergencies, while preventing and controlling the epidemic situation,we also need to pay more attention to the sleep and psychological state of nurses, and actively take corresponding measures to carry out psychological intervention on nurses to ensure high-quality sleep to serve the clinic in a better state.
