ObjectiveObsessive-compulsive disorder is a common mental disease,which has an early onset age and a long course of illness,and seriously affects the social function of individuals.The core damage of the obsessive-compulsive disorder is closely related to the ability of conflict control.Conflict control refers to the cognitive system mobilizes resources,solves conflicts and completes tasks smoothly when unrelated information conflicts with related information when individuals perform tasks in the environment.The current research on the cognitive neural process of conflict control in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder focuses on a single sensory channel,and conflict information in daily life mostly comes from different sensory channels.Further research on the cognitive neural process of cross-modal conflict control in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder is of great significance for improving the social function and quality of life of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder.Therefore,the purpose of this study(1)To explore whether there was barriers to cross-modal conflict control in patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder.(2)To compare the differences of cognitive neural process of cross-modal conflict control between the obsessive-compulsive disorder patients and normal individuals.Methods(1)In the forced group,15 subjects were selected from the psychiatric clinic of a third-class hospital in Chongqing.The normal group came from15 subjects who were recruited online and matched the conditions of the forced group who volunteered to participate in the experiment.(2)In this study,event-related potential(ERP)and response time(RT)recording were used as technical means.Experiment 1 adopted olfactory-visual Stroop paradigm,experiment 2 adopted tactile-visual Stroop paradigm,and experiment 3 adopted auditory-visual Stroop paradigm.The electrophysiological responses and response time of the two groups were recorded and analyzed to explore the effects of obsessive-compulsive symptoms on the cross-modal conflict control function and the cognitive neural mechanisms of the brain.Each experiment in this study adopted a two-factor mixed design of 2(groups)× 2(control conditions),in which group(forced group,normal group)is the inter-group factor,and the control condition(control condition,baseline condition)is the factor within the group.There are 15 subjects in each of the control conditions and the baseline conditions,and each subject conducts 120 experiments,there were 1800 trials in control condition and 1800 trials in baseline condition.The dependent variables were the correct rate,reaction time and ERP data.Results(1)Behavioral results show that,in experiment 1,when the forced group and the normal group completed the task,by repeated measurement variance analysis in response time,there was significant difference in main effect between stimulus types(P < 0.01),but no significant interaction between groups and stimulus types(P > 0.05).By repeated measurement variance analysis in accuracy rate,the main effect between stimulus types was not significant(P > 0.05),and the interaction between groups and stimulus types was not significant(P > 0.05).In experiment 2,when the forced group and the normal group completed the task,by repeated measurement variance analysis in response time,there was significant difference in main effect between stimulus types(P < 0.01),but no significant interaction between groups and stimulus types(P > 0.05).By repeated measurement variance analysis in accuracy rate,the main effect between stimulus types was not significant(P > 0.05),and the interaction between groups and stimulus types was not significant(P > 0.05).In main effect of stimulus type was significant(P < 0.01).There was significant interaction between stimulus types and groups(P < 0.01).The control condition and baseline condition of the normal group were significantly different(P<0.01).There was no significant difference between the control condition and the baseline condition of the forced group(P>0.05).In experiment 2,the main effect of stimulus type was significant(P<0.01).There was a significant interaction between the type of stimulation and the group(P<0.05).The control conditions and baseline conditions of the normal group were significantly different(P<0.01).There was no significant difference between the control condition and the baseline condition in the forced group(P >0.05).In experiment 3,the main effect of stimulus type was significant(P < 0.01).There was no significant interaction between stimulus types and groups(P >0.05).Conclusions(1)Control condition induced a more negative ERP waveform than baseline condition,ND400-600,which is an important physiological indicator for evaluating conflict control.(2)OCD patients have cognitive impairment in olfactory-visual and tactile-visual cross sensory channel conflict control,but there is no obstacle in auditory-visual cross sensory channel conflict control.(3)In measuring the conflict control ability of normal and abnormal individuals,the sensitivity of ERP data is higher than that of behavioral data.
