OBJECTIVE To investigate the current sexual behavior and contraceptive knowledge of school adolescents in Chongqing,providing a reference for adolescent contraception.METHODS A questionnaire of sexual behavior and contraceptive knowledge was conducted to school adolescents from 2 schools in Chongqing,then preformed an education and analyzed the questionnaires.RESULTS 978(72.4%)questionnaires qualified with 1350 questionnaires distributed.Among the 978 included,57(5.8%)had sex,there were 0/222(0)、5/264(1.9%)、21/262(8.0%)、31/230(13.5%)students having sex among ≤13 years,14-15 years,16-17 years and ≥18years group(P=0.000),which had a statistical difference,so did in those from full-time secondary school and advanced vocational school(25/628 VS 35/350,3.5% VS 10.0%,P=0.000),divorced and non-divorced family(25/97 VS 32/881,25.8% VS 3.6%,P=0.000).While,there was no statistical difference in gender,ethnicity,growing background,family income,and guardian education.Their knowledge of contraceptive methods was statistically different after the education(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Sexual behavior has something to do with age.Adolescents from divorced families are more likely to have sexual behavior.Education on contraceptive knowledge among adolescents can improve their comprehension of contraceptive methods.
