| With the development of globalization,the exchanges between countries are increasingly close.Traditional Chinese culture is attracting more and more foreigners’ attention,and traditional Chinese medicine as one of the excellent traditional Chinese culture,which becomes the focus of attention.There is no doubt that the spread of traditional Chinese medicine can not be separated from the development of translation of traditional Chinese medicine classics.As an outstanding classic of traditional Chinese medicine,Synopsis of the Golden Chamber,not only provides theoretical guidance for the research and clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine,but also has a profound influence on the world’s understanding of traditional Chinese medicine.Culture-loaded words refer to the words which are unique to a nation and cannot correspond to a specific target language.It can express the cultural information of a nation through language,at the same time it can reflect the social life of human beings participation.A large number of these words exist in Synopsis of the Golden Chamber,which increases difficulty for English translation.Thus,this paper combines Nida’s classification of culture-loaded words with the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine in Synopsis of the Golden Chamber,classifies the culture-loaded words in Synopsis of the Golden Chamber into five categories.By studying correlative literature about the three principles of Philosophical Hermeneutics: the historicity of understanding,fusion of horizons and effective history,this paper analyzes the culture-loaded words English translation in three versions of Synopsis of the Golden Chamber under the guidance of these three principles.In order to analyze the translation differences of different versions,and summarize the translation strategies and methods of culture-loaded words.In the process of translating Synopsis of the Golden Chamber into English,the different historical environments,personal beliefs,educational backgrounds and values of translators can cause differences in their translations and different translation strategies and methods that the translators adopt.History keeps changing,however,the history of the past will have an impact on the history of the present,so the translation and translation strategies and methods are always similar.Generally speaking,Luo’s translation embodies the basic skill of English,the translation of Ruan and Zhang focuses on the meaning of medicine,Li’s translation emphasizes comprehensive value.The three versions all adopt domestication and foreignization translation strategies and free translation,literal translation,transliteration and annotation translation methods,but the methods of applications are different.Therefore,under the guidance of Philosophical Hermeneutics,it is necessary to allow the existence of different translations and new ideas put forward by later generations,and translators can choose to use any combination of different translation strategies and methods according to their own needs.This paper hopes to deeply research the translation strategies and methods of culture-loaded words in traditional Chinese medicine classics through the case study of the English translation of culture-loaded words in Synopsis of the Golden Chamber,so as to promote the spread of traditional Chinese medicine.The research of English translation of traditional Chinese medicine is not only to study how to translate the source text,but also to study the traditional Chinese medicine culture which is hidden behind the source text. |
