| Objective:The experiment using the principle of color development after plaque disclosing agent adsorbs plaque,introduced the plaque disclosing agent into clinical research,and conducted individualized oral hygiene education with the assistance of plaque disclosing agent for orthodontic patients,and conducted routine oral hygiene education for patients.Making comparison of the control effect of plaque biofilm is to establish a more effective oral hygiene education method to control plaque biofilm,and to compare the differences of the situation of controlling plaque biofilm between invisible correction patients and fixed correction patients,who are under the same oral hygiene education.Methods:126 patients treated in orthodontics department of Nanchang University stomatological hospital were selected according to inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,and they were divided into 8 groups.Group A1:16 cases of underage patients adopting individualized oral health education were treated with fixed orthodontic treatment;Group A2:17 cases of underage patients adopting routine oral health education were treated with fixed orthodontic treatment;Group B1:17 cases of adult patients adopting individualized oral health education were treated with fixed orthodontic treatment;Group B2:15 adult fixed orthodontic patients received routine oral health education;Group C1:15 cases of minor invisible orthodontic patients received individualized oral health education;Group C2:15 cases of minor invisible orthodontic patients received routine oral health education;Group D1:15 adult patients who received individualized oral hygiene education and invisible correction;Group D2:16 adult patients had invisible correction who received routine oral hygiene education.Plaque index(PLI)and bleeding index(BI)of 126 patients at1 st,3rd and 5th month respectively and pre-treatment were measured by the same orthodontist.Statistical software SPSS 17.0 was used to analyze the data.Results:1.There was no significant difference in PLI and BI baseline between adult group and minor group before treatment(all P>0.05).2.PLI at 1st,3rd,5th month after correction were significantly higher than that of pre-treatment(T0)in all 8 groups(P<0.05),these differences were statistically meaningful.There were significant increases in BI between pre-treatment(T0)and post-treatment,all the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05),except the data of Group C1 and Group D1 at the 3rd and 5th month(P>0.05).3.In minor patients,there was no significant difference in BI between Group A1 and Group A2 in the first month(P>0.05),but the differences of BI at the 3rd and 5th month between 2 groups were statistically meaningful(P<0.05),and the differences of PLI at the 1st,3rd and 5th month between 2 groups were statistically meaningful(all P < 0.05).At the same time,there were no significant differences in BI and PLI between Group C1 and Group C2(P>0.05),but the data’s differences of 2 groups at the 3rd and 5th month were statistically significant(P<0.05).At the same time,there were significant differences in BI and PLI between Group A1 and Group C1 at the 1st month(P<0.05),and there was no significant difference between the 3rd and the 5th month(P>0.05).At the same time,there were significant differences in BI and PLI between Group A2 and Group C2 at 1st,3rd and 5th month(P<0.05).4.In adult patients,there were significant differences in BI and PIL between the horizontal comparison Group B1 and Group B2,Group D1 and Group D2,Group B2 and Group D2 at 1st,3rd and 5th month(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in BI and PLI between Group B1 and Group D1 at 1st,3rd and 5th month(P>0.05).Conclusion:1.Individual oral health education assisted by plaque disclosing agent can effectively alleviate the degree of plaque accumulation in patients with fixed appliances and clear aligners,which is beneficial to patients’ oral health.2.When orthodontic patients take care for oral hygiene positively,the type of appliance will effect the level of oral hygiene weakly. |
