With the aggravation of academic pressure,school-age children’s sleep has been seriously affected.School-age children’s sleep plays an important role in their growth and development,and has a certain influence on their life and study.It is found that children’s sleep quality has a significant impact on their academic achievement.However,there is little research on the mechanism of sleep quality affecting academic achievement.This study explored the effect of this advanced cognitive ability on sleep quality and academic achievement of school-age children from the perspective of updating.Through the establishment of an intermediary model,the study further examined whether sleep quality could affect academic achievement through the updating.In study one,175 school-age children aged 10 and 12 years old in a primary school were selected as the research subjects.Sleep quality and fluid intelligence were measured using the Children’s Sleep Habit Questionnaire and Raven’s Standard Reasoning Test,respectively.The academic achievements are selected from the students’ Chinese,mathematics and English scores in the mid-term exams.We analyzed the correlation between school-age children’s sleep quality and academic achievement,and found that there is a significant positive correlation between school-age children’s sleep quality and academic achievement.Further regression analysis showed that after controlling the demographic variables(age,sex and fluency)of school-age children,sleep quality still had a significant positive predictive effect on academic achievement.In study two,203 school-age children aged 10 and 12 years old in a primary school were selected as the research subjects.The children’s sleep habits questionnaire and raven’s standard reasoning test were used to measure the liquid intelligence of schoolage children.The academic achievement of the students in the school was selected from the Chinese,mathematics and English mid-term examinations.At the same time,the digital refresh function was used to test the refreshing ability of the subjects.Through correlation analysis and regression analysis,the relationship among sleep quality,refresh function and academic achievement of school-age children was discussed.It is found that there was a significant positive correlation between school-age children’s sleep quality,refresh function and academic achievement.The results of mediation model show that children’s updating plays a completely mediating role between sleep quality and academic achievement.The research results show that there was a significant positive correlation between sleep quality and academic achievement of school-age children.In addition,school-age children’s sleep quality has a significant predictive effect on academic achievement,and refresh function played an intermediary role between school-age children’s sleep quality and academic achievement.
