Population health has always been a hot issue for residents and governments in China. The level of health can not only affect the happiness of residents, but also have great significance for the country’s economic and social development. With the rapid growth of China’s population and the increasing complexity of residents’ health levels, people have paid more and more attention to the factors and mechanisms that affect population health. Not only has social capital been widely used in political science, economics, etc.,its role in population health has become a focus of attention in recent years. In this context, this article is a comprehensive and in-depth study of the impact of social capital on the health of urban and rural residents in China.Based on the summary and reference of related research, the research work of this paper is mainly carried out in the following three aspects: First, based on China’s health statistics big data, the health status and influencing factors of China’s population are analyzed, and the numerous applications of social capital in the health field are used as The entry point summarizes the definition, classification and measurement of social capital.Comprehensively analyze the impact mechanism of social capital on population health from the individual, community, regional and national levels.Based on the history and national conditions of China, the differences between urban and rural residents in China are explained.Combined with the mechanism of social capital on the health of China’s population, determine the impact of multi-level social capital on the health of China’s urban and rural population from the perspective of urban-rural duality. Finally, through the discussion and summary of empirical results and scientific theories,it focuses on explaining the specific impact of different social capitals on urban and rural residents at different levels. Finally, based on the principle of improving the health of our population and promoting our development,we propose specific Policies and recommendations. This paper uses a multi-level linear model regression analysis to prove that different types of social capital have different effects on residents’ physical and mental health. The same type of social capital can have the same or opposite effect on residents’ physical and mental health at different levels;regional-level social capital directly affects residents’ health and affects residents’ physical and mental health through affecting personal-level social capital.Health;most forms of social capital can significantly improve the physical and mental health of our population, but the existence of a small amount of social capital can negatively affect health. At present, research on the social capital and health of the Chinese population is still in a scarce stage. The huge potential of social capital should be explored in depth, and the positive impact of social capital on population health should be effectively utilized toaccelerate the progress of China’s national health.Compared with previous studies, the innovation of this paper is mainly reflected in the following three aspects: First, the research perspective. This article combines the characteristics of China’s household registration system to divide the research objects into urban and rural groups, which is clearer and clearer than previous research perspectives;the second is the research level. This paper uses a multi-level linear model to incorporate social capital at the regional level into the regression system, and revises the regression results to make the empirical results more convincing;the third is the study variables. This article evaluates the impact of social capital on individual health from two indicators, physical and psychological, making the research results more comprehensive.
