The Research On The Relationship Between Serum Fibroblast Growth Factor 21 And Carotid Atherosclerosis In Gout Patients

Objective:To explore the relationship between serum fibroblast growth factor 21(FGF21)and carotid atherosclerosis in gout patients.Methods:106 cases of subjects were enrolled in this research,including 20 cases of normal control group and 86 gout patients.The gout patients were divided into pure gout group(52 cases)and gout carotid atherosclerosis group(34 cases)according to the results of the neck vascular color Doppler ultrasound.Collecting general information,clinical data and detecting some of the biochemical indicators of each subject.The serum level of FGF21 was measured by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.The general data,biochemical indicators and serum FGF21 levels were compared between the three groups.The correlation between serum FGF21 and carotid atherosclerosis were analyzed.Results:(1)The body mass index,total cholesterol,triglyceride(TG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol,lipoprotein-associated phospholipase A2 and serum uric acid(SUA)in pure gout group and gout carotid atherosclerosis group were significantly higher than those in normal control group(P<0.05),while high density lipoprotein cholesterol was significantly lower than that in normal control group(P<0.05).(2)In normal control group,pure gout group and gout carotid atherosclerosis group,the serum FGF21 level was gradually increasing(P<0.05).(3)Correlation analysis showed that serum FGF21 was positively correlated with age(r=0.210,P=0.031),TG(r=0.215,P=0.027)and SUA(r=0.222,P=0.022),but had no correlation with other factors(P>0.05).(4)Logistic regression analysis found that age,TG and SUA were risk factors of carotid atherosclerosis in gout patients.Conclusion:Serum level of FGF21 was elevated in gout patients,and positively correlated with serum level of uric acid,indicating that FGF21 may participate in the process of uric acid metabolism.The level of serum FGF21 was elevated significantly in gout patients with carotid atherosclerosis,indicating that FGF21 may play a important role in the development of carotid atherosclerosis.Serum FGF21 may become a biomarker for predicting atherosclerosis.
