| ObjectiveTo evaluate the clinical effects of Patellofemoral Osteoarthritis(PFOA)by Shu Jin Hui Xuan Manipulation and its influence on Q Angle,and explore its potential biomechanical mechanism,so as to provide the clinical evidence for the clinical application of Shu Jin Hui Xuan Manipulation.MethodsA total of 70 patients with PFOA were randomly divided them into the experimental group and the control group,35 cases in each group.The control group was treated with Joint Mobilization Technique,while the experimental group was treated with Shu Jin Hui Xuan Manipulation,both groups were given the same basic therapy.The patients in both groups were treated once a week and for a total of 4 weeks.All patients were tested for the changes of Q Angle,knee joint visual analogue scale(VAS),Lysholm score and the MOS item short from health survey-SF-36(Chinese version)score before treatment,and 4 weeks later.The curative efficacy was judged by statistical analysis of related datas.ResultsThroughout the entire treatment and observation process,all enrolled patients were able to cooperate with treatment and follow-up as the research required,and no cases were eliminated or dropped off and statistical analysis was as follows:1.Patients in the experimental group and the control group were compared by statistical analysis in terms of age,BMI,gender,and affected side ratio.The baselines were consistent and comparable(P>0.05).2.The experimental group and the control group had been statistically analyzed before the treatment of knee joint VAS score,Lysholm score,Q angle and SF-36 eight dimension scores,and the baselines were consistent and comparable(P>0.05).3.Compared with the control group,the knee joint VAS score,Lysholm score,Q angle and SF-36 physical functioning score,role-physical score,bodily pain score,general health score,vitality score,and the knee joint VAS score difference before and after the treatment,Lysholm score difference before and after the treatment,Q angle difference before and after the treatment,SF-36 physical functioning score difference before and after the treatment and role-physical score difference before and after the treatment,bodily pain score difference before and after the treatment,general health score difference before and after the treatment,social functioning score difference before and after the treatment,role-emotional score difference before and after the treatment,vitality score difference before and after the treatment were significantly different after treatment in the experimental group(P<0.05).However,there was no significant difference in SF-36 social functioning score,role-emotional score,mental health score after the treatment and SF-36 mental health score difference before and after the treatment between the two groups(P>0.05).4.Compared with before treatment,the knee joint VAS score,SF-36 role-physicaland bodily pain score of the two groups of patients were significantly improved after treatment(P<0.05).In addition,Compared with before treatment,patients in the experimental group had significant improvements in the SF-36 physical functioning score,general health score,vitality score,social functioning score,and emotional function score(P<0.05),but the mental health score did not improve significantly(P<0.05).Compared with before treatment,patients in the control group had not Obviously improved in the knee joint Lysholm score,Q angle and SF-36 physical functioning score and general health score,vitality score,social functioning score and emotional function score(P<0.05).ConclusionShu Jin Hui Xuan Manipulation can significantly improve the pain,function and Q angle abnormalities of the knee joint in the early and mid-term PFOA patients,and help improve the stability of the patellofemoral joint and the patients’ quality of life,and the effects are remarkably better than Joint Mobilization Technique.Shu Jin Hui Xuan Manipulation,which is safe and reliable,has good clinical value.This technique is worthy of clinical application and promotion. |
