| Singapore has a population of about 5.7 million,of which more than one million are Buddhists.Among these Buddhists,there is a large number of people believe in Chinese Buddhism,the followers are mostly Chinese.They have established nearly 100 Buddhist charity organizations including the Singapore Buddhist free clinic(SBFC).Founded in 1969 by Chinese Buddhism in Singapore,the clinic has a history of 50 years.During this period,the coverage of the clinic has increased,the service content has improved,and the number of beneficiaries has increased.The only thing that remains unchanged is that the clinic still adheres to Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)diagnosis and treatment.TCM is a traditional Chinese medicine with a long history and has long been a part of Chinese traditional culture.Like traditional Chinese medicine,Chinese Buddhism is also a part of Chinese traditional culture.SBFC combines Chinese medicine with Chinese Buddhism closely which is undoubtedly an excellent case for the spread of Chinese civilization overseas.This article mainly uses literature analysis and field survey methods to study the reasons,development process,organizational structure,social donation and social services of SBFC.Based on the background and environment,it analyzes the challenges and influence of SBFC.According to research,SBFC faces three challenges,namely the aging of its workforce,it is difficult to please young Singaporeans and competition from other organizations.But the impact of clinic on Singapore society and the international community is significant.SBFC has always been committed to the free consultation of Traditional Chinese medicine,which has guaranteed the health of Singaporeans and maintained the stability of Singapore society.It not only made TCM recognized by the international and domestic society,but also made people have a new understanding of ChineseBuddhism,established a circle of trust between people and religion,and aroused the sense of social responsibility in public. |
