| With the health strategy rising to the national strategy, under the concern of General Secretary Xi Jinping,a people-centered health path is being laid.As a part of the disadvantaged group, children’s health problems have always been the focus of scholars at home and abroad. As a harbor for children’s growth, parents as the first mentor of children’s growth, the influence of their social capital on their children’s health has increasingly become the focus of scholars’ research. This paper uses the 2014 China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)database to analyze the influence of parental social capital on children’s health by using parental social capital and child health as the research theme. At the same time, the left-behind children and non-left-behind children are set to compare. The conclusions drawn from the study suggest feasible recommendations to provide an up-to-date reference for further improving parental social capital and thus promoting children’s health.Through literature research and CFPS survey data, this paper defines social capital from four dimensions:social trust, social participation, and social network and social support.First, descriptive analysis methods are used to describe demographic characteristics, social capital and child health related variables, followed by X2 test and independent sample T test to examine the demographic characteristics and social capital of left-behind children and non-left-behind children.Differences in aspects; Then, using factor analysis,11 common factors of social capital are extracted from the indicators and named separately. Finally, the proposed research hypothesis is demonstrated by the binary logistic empirical model. The conclusions of the study are as follows:First, the health status of left-behind children and non-left-behind children is different, and the health status of left-behind children is even worse.Second, the demographic characteristics have different effects on the health of left-behind and non-left-behind children, mainly reflected in parents’Marriage status,Household registration,Age,level of Health status and Gender in children;Thirdly, the social capital of parents plays an important role in children’s health, and is mainly influenced by social trust, social network and social support; The Fourth, parental social capital Different dimensions have different influences on the health of left-behind and non-left-behind children. The social support dimension has a stronger impact on the health of left-behind children, but social trust, social network and social participation dimension have greater impact on the health of non-left-behind children. Finally, social capital There are potential negative effects that sometimes increase the risk of non-left-behind children turning into left-behind children. On the basis of the conclusions of this study, combined with the research on social capital and health,it is recommended that the family, community and government jointly act to improve the social capital of parents as a mechanism to improve the health status of left-behind children and non-left-behind children. |
