Objective To observe the effect of cognitive training on dysphagia rehabilitation in vascular dementia(VD)patients with dysphagia. Methods 60 VD patients with dysphagia who meet the inclusion criteria were divided into mild, moderate and severe dementia according to Clinical Dementia Rating(CDR),then stratified randomly the patients into training group and control group according to dementia severity. Each group had 30 patients. Both groups were given drugs to promote intelligence and improve cerebral circulation, and conventional swallowing rehabilitation training(including swallowing behavior therapy and neuromuscular electrical stimulation.Cognitive therapy was additionally used in the training group. Both groups were assessed by Montreal cognitive assessment(MoCA)and Standardized Swallowing Assessment(SSA)before and after 3 months treatment.Compare the training and control groups before and after treatment group and between-group results. Results After treatment, the MOCA and SSA scores improved in both groups(P<0.05),and the training group was superior to the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Conventional swallowing rehabilitation training may improve the swallowing function in VD patients with dysphagia.Swallowing function rehabilitation training combined with cognitive therapy may facilitate to improve the swallowing function more significantly.Cognitive therapy can promote the recovery of swallowing function of VD patients with dysphagia.
