A Study On Effect Of Acupoint Application For Hypertension Patients With Phlegm And Dampness

Objective To formulate the acupoint application scheme for hypertension patients with phlegm and dampness based on the theory of treatment by differentiating syndromes,and to discuss the effect of acupoint application therapy in blood pressure,TCM syndrome and the life quality.Methods An acupoint application scheme was formulated based on literature review,expert consultations and pilot study.Based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria,80 hypertensive patients with phlegm and dampness were chosen using convenience sampling,and divided into two groups via random number table in some community health service stations in Hangzhou(A total of 77 people completed the whole test process actually),control group was treated by routine drugs for 12 weeks,apart from that,interventional group was treated by acupoint applications.After experiment,the interventional group were followed up for 4 weeks.Blood pressure,TCM syndrome,the life quality were evaluated before and after the intervention,blood pressure,TCM syndrome were evaluated after 4 weeks.Results(1)The result between two groups showed that systolic pressure at week 8 and 12 had a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The systolic pressure in the interventional group had a gradual decline trend and had a statistical significance in every stage(P<0.01).The systolic pressure in the control group had no statistic difference in every stage(P>0.05).(2)The result between two groups and in the control group at every stage showed that diastolic blood pressure had no statistically significant differences(P>0.05).(3)The systolic and diastolic blood pressure had no statistically significant difference(P>0.05)between the stage 3 and the fllowed-up for 4 weeks after the experiment finished.(4)The TCM syndrome score of stage 2 and 3 was statistically different between the two groups(P<0.01),the TCM syndrome score in the interventional group had a gradual decline trend and was statistically significant between every 2 stage(P<0.01).(5)The result showed that the RP、RE quality life dimension was statistically significant(P<0.05)between two groups.The RP、GH、VT、SF、RE、MH life quality dimension in the interventional group had a statistic significance(P<0.01).Conclusion The study has confirmed the effect of the acupoint application in reducing the systolic blood pressure level,the TCM syndrome score and improving the life quality of hypertension patients with phlegm and dampness.
