Objective: To discuss the correlation between the severity of sarcopenia and the severity of knee osteoarthritis in elderly inpatients.Methods:95 elderly inpatients with decreased activity and grip strength complete the grip strength test, skeletal muscle mass measurement, walking ability assessment and knee joint X-ray.According to the severity of sarcopenia, they were divided into the pre-sarcopenia stage group and the sarcopenia stage group. And the sarcopenia stage group was divided into the sarcopenia stage group and the severe sarcopenia stage group. To study the incidence of knee osteoarthritis, and falls, and the severity of knee imaging between the three groups.Results:(1)BMI and total fat content in the pre-sarcopenia group were higher than those in the sarcopenia group.(2)The incidence of knee osteoarthritis and falls was higher in the severe sarcopenia and sarcopenia groups than in the pre-sarcopenia group.(3)The knee X-ray grade of the sarcopenia stage group was higher than that of the pre-sarcopenia group, but there was no difference in the knee X-ray grade between the severe sarcopenia stage group and the sarcopenia stage group.(4)The severity of sarcopenia was significantly correlated with the severity of knee X-ray in patients with knee osteoarthritis, and the higher the degree of sarcopenia, the higher the grade of joint imaging. Conclusion:In elderly hospitalized patients, the severity of sarcopenia is correlated with the occurrence and progression of knee osteoarthritis, and knee osteoarthritis with the more severe sarcopenia, the more severe the joint injury. |
