| Objective:To systematically evaluate the efficacy of low-dose polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid and standard amount of polyethylene glycol for bowel preparation before colonoscopy. Methods:Search the Chinese and English literature about low-dose polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid and standard amount of polyethylene glycol for bowel preparation before colonoscopy in CNKI,Wanfang,Pubmed,Embase,Weipu and other databases. The time limit is from self-built database to September 2020.After data extraction and literature quality evaluation,Revman 5.3 software is used for Meta analysis and publication bias test. Results:Initial literatures were gradually selected after weighting, reading titles, abstracts and full text, and 9 articles were finally included. Results of Meta-analysis showed that low-dose PEG plus ascorbic acid and standard PEG as intestinal preparations for colonoscopy had the same bowel preparation efficacy [OR = 0.98,95% CI(0.77,1.25),P=0.85];Low doses of PEG plus ascorbic acid showed better compliance with bowel preparation prior to colonoscopy than standard doses of PEG[OR =2.21,95% CI(1.64,3.00),P <0.00001];Compared with the standard amount of polyethylene glycol for bowel preparation for colonoscopy,low-dose polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid had fewer overall adverse events [OR = 0.70,95% CI(0.57,0.87),P=0.001].Conclusion:Low-dose polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid and standard amount of polyethylene glycol have the same effect in bowel preparation before colonoscopy, with lower adverse reaction rate and better patient compliance, satisfaction and tolerance. |
