Epidemic and public health education is a hot topic nowadays.It is not only an indispensable element of school,social and family health education,but an important index to measure social civilization and progress.With the outbreak of Covid-19 at the end of 2019,the disease has become the focus of the whole society.In the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,epidemics occurred frequently in China,especially plague,which bring great harm.The outbreak of infectious diseases represented by plague was undoubtedly a mutation in human society and various reflections of human society were responses.Therefore,to sort out the process of the modernization of the prevention and control of infectious diseases and public health education in China in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China,as well as a series of measures and important thoughts of schools,societies and families in public health education,which brings great enlightenment for promoting epidemic prevention and control and the development of public health education in China at present.Accordingly,at first,it introduces the beginning of three large plague and public health education in China and points out that the public health education in modern China was initiated in the "mutation and response" of epidemics.Then,elaborates the public how to cope with plague from the school,society and family,including from the school level,establish a suitable school system for school public health education,reform school health education curriculum,compile school health education textbook,innovate school health education mode,from the social level,introduce the people’s understanding of social public health education,the public health education activities and the public health reform experiments carried out by two representative health organizations,China Health Education Association and BeiPing First Health Office,from the family level,introduce the people’s understanding of family public health education and the family public health education thoughts of Hu Xuanming,a public health scientist,and Tao Xingzhi,an educator in the Republic of China.Finally,based on plague with the analysis of the related measures of the school,society and families in disease prevention and public health education,which concluded that the plague brought huge impact to the Chinese society,triggered a mutation,at the same time,the epidemic prevention behavior and public health education work of the whole society also promotes the formation of Chinese public health education modernization,besides,this process also reflects the historical process of the modernization of China’s public health,China’s education reform and China’s social development.
