| Background: As the consumption environment changes, the role of consumers has changed from value consumers to value creators, who can actively participate and create value together. The same is true in the field of diabetes management. The active participation of patients can effectively improve the management effect of diabetes. Therefore, understanding the participation behaviors and results of diabetes patients is of great significance for patients to clarify their roles and motivate patients to actively participate in disease management.Purpose: To construct a conceptual model of diabetic patients’ participation in value co-creation,and focuses on the mechanism of how patients’ participation influences patients health. So it can provide theoretical basis and reference for enhancing the enthusiasm of patients to participate and better behavior intervention in community medical institutions. Methods: First, this paper summarize the participation behaviors of diabetic patients(health education, responsible behaviors, interpersonal interaction),and the results of participation(glycemic control,Health-Related Quality of Life, capability)through literature review.Based on the literature review, establishing a conceptual model of diabetic patients’ participation process, and puting forward research hypotheses. Then, the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Model(PLS-SEM)was used for empirical analysis to verify the research hypothesis, and analyzing the relationships of patients’ participation behaviors and their impact on health.Results:(1)Patient participation in health education(β=0.437)and enhancing interpersonal interaction(β=0.256)have a positive impact on the implementation of responsible behavior, and interpersonal interaction will also affect patient participation in health education(β= 0.466).(2)Patient participation in health education has a positive effect on glycemia control(β=0.459).Responsible behavior has a positive effect on improving the Health-Related Quality of Life of patients(β=0.196).Glycemia control has no significant effect on improving Health-Related Quality of Life of patients, but it can affect the Capability of patients(β=0.410),and Health-Related Quality of Life of patients can also positively affect the patients’ Capability(β=0.319).Conclusion: The results show that participating in health education and strengthening interpersonal interaction have a positive impact on responsible behavior, and strengthening interpersonal interaction can also promote patient participation in health education.Participating in health education can help glycemia control levels, and implementing responsible behaviors can help improve Health-Related Quality of Life of patients.Improvements in glycemia control and Health-Related Quality of Life can positively affect the Capability of patients.Based on the results of the study, relevant recommendations were made from patient level and community level respectively. |
