| Macleaya cordata(MC)is a kind of Chinese herbal medicine with antibacterial,antioxidant,immune regulation,anti-inflammatory,and other effects.Three Experiments were conducted to study the effects of MC on the growth performance of animals and its mechanism of action,in order to provide references for the nonresistant feed.Experiment 1.The Effects of Macleaya Cordata on Production Performance and Antioxidant Capacity of Chickens Under Diquat-Induced Oxidative StressOne hundred and twenty chickens(1-day-old)were randomly divided into three groups(control group,diquat group,and MC group)with 40 replicates in each group and one chicken in each replicate.The pre-feeding period lasted for 7 days,and the formal Experiment period lasted for 14 days.Control group and diquat group were fed with basal diet,and MC group were fed with basal diet+400 mg·kg-1macleaya cordata extract(MCE,100:0.375).The chickens in diquat group and MC group were intraperitoneally injected with diquat solution according to 8 mg·kg-1body weight(BW)at day 8.The chickens in control group was injected with normal saline in the same way.The results showed that ADG in diquat group was decreased at day 8-14,day 15-21,and day 8-21 compared to control group(P<0.01).Compared to diquat group,ADG in MC group was increased at day 8-14,day15-21,and day 8-21(P<0.01).Compared to control group,the levels of SOD(P<0.05),T-AOC(P<0.05),GSH-Px(P<0.05),and GST(P<0.05)in diquat group were decreased,and the levels of MDA were increased(P<0.05).Compared to diquat group,the levels of serum SOD(P<0.05),GSH-Px(P<0.01),GST(P<0.01),and T-AOC(P<0.01)in MC group were increased,and the level of MDA was decreased(P<0.05).In conclusion,the oxidative stress model of diquat was successfully established.MC can improve the antioxidant capacity and growth performance of chickens under oxidative stress.Experiment 2.The Effects of Macleaya Cordata on Growth Performance and Immune Function of Chickens Under Cyclophosphamide-Induced Immunologic SuppressionOne hundred and twenty chickens(1-day-old)were randomly divided into three groups(control group,CTX group,and MC group)with 40 replicates in each group and one chicken in each replicate.The pre-feeding period lasted for 7 days,and the formal Experiment period lasted for 14 days.Control group and CTX group were fed with basal diet,and MC group were fed with basal diet+400 mg·kg-1MCE.The chickens in CTX group and MC group were intraperitoneally injected with cyclophosphamide(CTX)according to 80 mg·kg-1BW at day 8-10,and then injected with the same dose at day 13.The chickens in control group was injected with normal saline in the same way.The results showed that ADG at day 8-14(P<0.01)and day 8-21(P<0.05)in CTX group were decreased compared to control group.ADG at day 8-14(P<0.01)and day 8-21(P<0.05)in MC group were higher than that in CTX group.Compared to control group,the levels of serum IL-1β(P<0.05),IL-10(P<0.01),Ig G(P<0.05),and Ig M(P<0.01)in CTX group were decreased,and the WBC count were decreased(P<0.01).Compared to CTX group,the levels of Ig M(P<0.01),Ig G(P<0.05),IL-6(P<0.05),and IL-10(P<0.01)in MC group were increased,and the WBC count in MC group was increased(P<0.01).In conclusion,the immunosuppressive model of CTX was successfully established.MC can improve the immune function and growth performance of chickens under immunologic suppression.Experiment 3.The Effects of Macleaya cordata and Antibiotics on Growth Performance of BroilersFour hundred and fifty AA broilers(1-day-old)were randomly divided into 3 groups(control group,AGP group,and MC group)with 5 replicates in each group and 30 broilers in each replicate.The Experiment period lasted for 42 days.Control group was fed with basal diet,AGP group was fed with basal diet+330 mg·kg-1chlortetracycline(15%premix),and MC group was fed with basal diet+400 mg·kg-1MCE.The results showed that ADG(P<0.01)and ADFI(P<0.05)in MC group were increased compared to control group.The levels of MDA(P<0.05),IL-1β(P<0.05),and IL-2(P<0.05)in MC group were higher than that in control group,and the level of IL-10 in MC group was increased compared to control group(P<0.05).The bursal index in MC group was higher than those in control group and AGP group(P<0.05).In conclusion,MC and AGPs can improve the antioxidant capacity,reduce inflammatory reaction,enhance the regulatory capacity of immune system and improve the growth performance of broilers.In conclusion,MC has antioxidant,anti-inflammatory and immune enhancing effects,which is conducive to maintaining animal health and improving animal growth performance.The growth promoting effect of MC was similar to that of AGPs. |
