Abstract/Summary:
A target is discerned as a single point in a low resolution radar system. In an imaging radar system, the target return signal contains information which can provide range and cross range information. An Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar is an imaging radar capable of generating two dimensional images. Using the range and cross range information available in the target return signal, two dimensional images containing a high degree of range and cross range resolution can be generated. The purpose of this thesis is to develop a collection of software programs capable of generating simulated two dimensional radar images suitable for display as grey level images. The theory underlying ISAR imaging is presented followed by techniques for the formation of Stacked Range Time Intensity Strip images, Stacked Doppler Time Intensity Strip images, and Wideband Range Doppler images. Simulated imagery as well as details algorithm descriptions are also provided.
