Abstract/Summary: | |
The advancement in development of nanotechnology leads to the increased production of nanoparticles (NPs). These NPs can be released into soils as emerging groundwater contaminants because many of them show toxic effects to the ecosystems; however, their fate and transport in soils are largely unknown. The present research conducted a state of art literature review and examined the transport behavior of NPs saturated porous media. The experimental, theoretical and computational approaches conducted to study the transport of NPs in porous media are discussed. An MATLAB algorithm is developed to simulate samples of porous media and their properties are studied and the factors that would affect the transport of NPs are discussed. Future recommendations on the extension of work are also recommended. |
