With the acceleration of the process of economic integration and the deepening of international division of projects, the requirements of China's economic development have gradually changed from high-speed growth to high-quality development. As the first pillar industry of our national economy, the highly capital-intensive and technology-intensive electronic information industry is facing the double challenges of unreasonable internal structure and fierce competition from external economies. How to promote the upgrading of the industry and realize the value chain from low-end to high-end has become an urgent problem for China's electronic information industry that need to be studied and solved. The purpose of this paper is to estimate the position of China's electronic information manufacturing industry in the global value chain,so as to have a scientific and sober understanding of the position of China's new electronic industry in the global division of labor, and to analyze the main factors affecting the upgrading of the status of the global value chain. This paper introduces the current development situation of China's electronic information industry in terms of scale growth, line operation, fixed assets investment, demand structure, foreign trade structure and regional distribution, and puts forward the general dilemma in the process of industry development in combination with smart phones.Based on the decomposition principle of value added in export trade, this paper constructs GVC position index and measures the relevant data of electronic information manufacturing industry in 20 countries from 2000 to 2011.It is found that the GVC position index of China's electronic information manufacturing industry shows a general trend of growth, and the competitiveness of electronic information products has been greatly improved. However, the industry as a whole is still at the low end of the global value chain, and there is a big gap between the profitability level of developed countries and this industry.Referring to the existing research of other scholars, this paper chooses six indicators:export market demand, capital investment, labor input,R&D capacity, foreign investment dependence and scale economy to analyze the factors that affect the position change of China's electronic information manufacturing industry in the global value chain.According to the empirical regression results, export market demand has a significant negative effect on the change of global value chain status of China's electronic industry.Foreign investment dependence and scale economy have a positive role in promoting the position of China's electronic industry in the global value chain, while capital, labor input and R&D capacity have no obvious effect.Based on the existing research literature, this paper updates the research perspective, replacing the traditional theory of trade and division of labor with the theory of value-added trade,so as to more scientifically and accurately understand the international division of labor status and sustainable trade surplus of China's electronic industry. At the same time, this paper chooses the emerging industry-electronic industry as the research object, which expands the industrial area of transformation and upgrading, making the research more realistic. Finally, according to the analysis of the factors affecting the division of labor status of global value chain, this paper puts forward policy suggestions on how to improve the division of labor status of global value chain in China's electronic industry.
