Research On The Mediation Of Neighbour-avoidance Group Events In The Network Environment

The development of information and communication technologies(ICTS)has profoundly affected media practice and social protest.At present,our country is in the process of the overall change of social structure.Group events caused by NIMBY(Not in My Backyard)have become the focus of social transformation and have influenced social development.Therefore,the role and function of media technology,media practice,and informationism cannot be ignored in social changes.With the development of the media,the importance of the media has increased and mediatization has begun to infiltrate different kinds of social and cultural fields.The purpose of mediatization research is to explore the fundamental influence of the media on other social areas and the changes that have been brought about by the media,as well as new perspectives on media research.This research is based on the theory of mediatization and examines the relationship between the media and Group events caused by NIMBY and how the media has a gradual impact on it from a dynamic and process-oriented perspective in order to reflect on the relationship between mediatization and social and cultural changes.In the meantime,it probes into media reproduction,reconstruction and promotion of society during the process of social change.This study is divided into five chapters.The first chapter and the second chapter are the basis of the whole study.The first chapter is the introduction.It introduces the research purpose,research status and research methods,etc.From the perspective of mediatization analyzing group events caused by NIMBY,it has practical significance of the cross-sectoral research of mediatization and the relationship between mediatization and social change.The second chapter is the combination of mediatizaiton theory.The mediatization theory is systematically interpreted from the three parts of the concepts of mediatization,mediatization of politics and mediatization of protest.It is the theoretical foundation of the whole research and analysis,with providing the research path for the specific analysis process.Based on the development of mediation,mediatization means that the influence of the media on the entire society continues to increase,and at the same time it gradually develops into an independent system that affects other social areas.The development of mediatization is dynamic and long-term.It can be investigated by studying the mediatization process from the media research in the fields of politics and social protest.In the third chapter,based on Hepp's classification of media in the mediatization study,the research analyzes media's role as an mediation in group events caused by NIMBY in two aspects:media of information dissemination and media of communication.As the first role,it acts as an "mediation" for monitoring the environment and constructing landscapes in this kind of group events;as the second role,it words as mass self-communication resulting in rights of speech and makes an linked impact by network.The development of "mediation" is also an important part of the mediatization process.The fourth chapter focuses on the analysis of the mediatization processes of group events caused by NIMBY.Starting with the development from mediation to mediatization,it analyzes the five processes of mediatization and how media logic and political logic interact and game in those group events.The mediatization processes of extension,substitution,amalgamation,accommodation and creation involve and include different social forces and social dimensions.In the processes of mediatization,the media is considered to be the power of interaction with other institutions and fields.The autonomy of the media has been improved simultaneously.The interactions and games of two kinds of logic intertwine with capitals,institutions,and power,which embody the interaction and competition between different institutions and capitals.The fifth chapter is the conclusion and reflection of the full thesis.One of the purposes is to summarize the research findings,that is,the mediatization of group events caused by NIMBY;the second purpose is to supplement and reflect on what is not involved in this research.The study finds that the media influences this kind of group events in different forms:Strong mediatizaion refers to the media's mobilization of protests,the individual and organization reports on events and government control via direct media form;the weak mediatization is when the media environment provides a new platform and space for protests by indirect media forms with making the protest symbols and forms more diversified,and at the same time creating new challenges to the aggregation of protest groups.In the mediatization research of group events caused by NIMBY,there is no in-depth exploration of the economic and power aspects behind them.Similarly,there is no experimental analysis and data to show which kind of logic between media logic and other logics is dominant in the game processes.As the mediatization of the "meta-process" of social development,it goes hand in hand with capitals.The development of mediatization has extended to all areas of society and culture.Furthermore,this process is difficult to reverse.Thinking about mediatization requires more in-depth and comprehensive research in order to continuously study the media's influence in the process of social change.
