Public Crisis Triggered By Individual Events:Research On Mediatization Mechanism

The process of mediatization accelerate the integration and collision of media and other social fields,and the crisis also presents the mediatized characteristics.Under the mediatization mechanism,it is more difficult to control the time when a crisis will outbreak,and the participants in the opinion exchanging also become more diversity.Platformization has changed the long-term power structure.The number of mediatized crisis which triggered by individuals has kept increased.Meanwhile,it is also more complicated for the responsible parties.However,the present research lack the interaction study.Therefore,this paper not only extend the new theoretical framework,but also is meaningful for dealing with crisis.Based on this,this paper chose Baidu News,Weibo and Wechat as the source of media content,and took "Yu Huan Case" and "Li Tianyi case" as a typical case.Trying to explain how the judicial individual crisis is escalate to public crisis during the mediatization process from the perspectives of micro,meso and macro levels.The results show that at the micro level,the media logic tents to rationality value,while the legal logic is instrumental rationality.When the expectation of media logic is violated by the law logic,a sense of difference in attitudes can inspire a change in public behaviors and promote crisis escalation.At the meso level,the platformization has changed the hierarchical pattern of information exchange,and the power structure of crisis escalation has become equalization and networking.At the macro level,the ecological environment of crisis irrationally and rationally coexisted.Meanwhile,this paper also pointed the differences among communication subjects,media influence and media environment during the process of mediatization.Last but not least,this paper put forward the social functions of mediatized crisis,gave three suggestions for theoretical research and practical application,and the limitation of current study and the prospect for the future were discussed.
