In recent years,due to partial eating and poor diet,children and adolescents obesity,malnutrition and other problems are becoming more and more serious.Some of the original meaning of adult diseases such as diabetes,hypertension and so on,but now more and more appear in the minors.Moreover,students waste food,like eating snacks and other unhealthy eating behavior is common.Thus,it is necessary to carry out food education for students,and the school is the key place to promote it.Some schools in Shanghai have already carried out the pilot work of food education promotion.In order to further strengthen the nutrition lunch and food education work of primary and secondary school students,the Shanghai Education Commission and the Municipal Food and Drug Administration jointly issued a notice to request that all schools in the district should organize the food education work since September 2018.The issues that this study is going to explore and analyze are as follows.How about the development of food education in primary schools? What are the ways and practices of food education? What difficulties have schools encountered in organizing food education?The study investigates the nutrition cognition,dietary behavior of students and basic status of food education in three primary schools in Shanghai by means of questionnaires and interviews.The results showed that the nutritional status of primary school students was general,and the dietary behavior was good;The main contents of school food education are the education of food safety and the cultivation of students’ good eating habits;The activities of food education are mainly carried out by group teaching methods such as theme class meeting,radio,lectures,etc.Some schools also actively carry out flexible and diverse experiential food education activities;Schools in Shanghai have a strict food management system especially in the aspect of food safety.The difficulties in the implementation of food education are as follow: nutritional cognition and behavior of students need to be improved;small coverage of food education in schools;the importance of food education in schools is slightly inadequate;lack of food education professionals;the relevant supervision and evaluation system for food education is not perfect.Aiming at the problems existing in the process of school food education and drawing lessons from Japan’s mature practice of food education,this study proposes the following countermeasures: strengthening publicity and promoting rationalunderstanding of diet education;build a scientific food education curriculum system;strengthen the construction of food education professionals;cultivate a multi-subjects participation in the education system.
