When it comes to serious game,it is a new medium derived from computer and network technology,which is defined as a game that does not aim at pure entertainment.On the other hand,it has a clear purpose in skills training,education and health care,in which its form belongs to electronic game.Compared with entertainment games,serious games have the characteristics of carrying more effective information with purpose.Duo to its own characteristic of game,it is the effective tool to compete for the attention of user groups.At present,some researchers and practitioners in the cultural field have tried to use it as communication tool of historical and cultural knowledge.The current research on serious game focuses on the effectiveness of it to achieve its purposes,as well as the design and evaluation framework of serious games.However,there is still a lack of research on how extra game factors affect the performance of serious games in the process of achieving functional goals.There are some studies indicating that emotion is the background of all human psychological and behavioral activities,which also provides motivation for these activities.Thus,it is believed that the role of user's emotional factors in the effectiveness of serious game as the receiving end of information needs to be explored,which is also the main research content of this paper.In this paper,it will take the audience's cognitive performance level as an index to compare the effectiveness of serious game media and traditional media in the dissemination of historical and cultural knowledge,so as to further explore the contribution of user's emotional arousal level in it.Since the purpose of serious game in this study is to spread historical and cultural knowledge among the public,the improvement of audiences' cognitive performance is an important index to measure the effectiveness of serious game.In this paper,it obtains the following conclusions through carrying out the comparative experiment on the basis of designing and developing serious game:(1)It can induce users to produce higher level of emotional arousal if the game has higher difficulty and faster rhythm;(2)The attention and memory in cognitive performance of the users of serious games in the dissemination of historical and cultural knowledge has improved when it is compared with the static graphic media;(3)A relatively higher level of emotional arousal plays a role in promoting the cognitive performance of the audience when using serious games as media.As a result,these conclusions provide some references for the future research of the design and evaluation framework of serious game.Furthermore,it summarizes some design suggestions for experimental games and other serious games in this paper by discussing the user's pleasure,initiative and behavioral characteristics.Thus,these suggestions not only provide the research directions for the content of this paper in the future,but also provide some reference for future design of serious game.
