The research object of this article is the subway as a media space.With the acceleration of China's urbanization process,subway construction has also shown a rapid growth trend.However,the subway has never been more than just a means of transportation.The subway has a unique cultural connotation,and it has pinned down the complex emotions of the citizens.It is a mediaized urban physical space,which bears the role of disseminating information in urban life as a medium Has made an important contribution to disseminating information.Therefore,the subway as an important research object of communication is constantly being explored.Especially since the spatial turn in the humanities and social sciences,urban physical space has gradually been included in the field of communication studies.The problem of mediating urban physical space has attracted the attention of the communication circles.From a communication perspective,it is worth thinking about what media functions the subway has in the city and how the subway is constructed as a mediating space.This paper analyzes and deconstructs the subway as a medium space from the perspective of physical space,virtual space and third space,and explores the construction path of subway medium space.First,from the perspective of semiotics and cultural geography,the analysis of subway space symbols shows how the physical symbols are transmitted in the subway as a physical space.Subsequently,these symbols conveyed a certain meaning through combination,and assumed the functions of carrying urban culture,enhancing the image of the city,constructing a collective memory and a sense of place,and creating a public communication space,thereby transforming from physical space to virtual space.In the end,passengers based on the ride experience give the subway physical space and virtual space life and vitality,and then link the subway physical space and virtual space to form a space full of contradictions and openness.This paper finds that there are two main ways to construct a mediaized space for a subway as a mediaized space: one is to transform physical space to virtual space,and the other is to link the physical space and virtual space through the ride experience and give it active and Vitality thus forms a subway space full of contradictions and openness,which is very close to the third space mentioned by Edward Sawyer.Therefore,we canre-examine the role of the subway in urban communication from the perspective of the third space,and re-examine the relationship between media,people,technology and space.
