Due to the increasing market demand for AR head-mounted displays, the LCOS micro-display driver chip for AR display helmets has been deeply studied. The current demand for the LCOS micro-display module of AR glasses, which is characterized by high frame rate, low delay, high resolution and portability. The development of high-resolution LCOS microdisplay driver chips is that the LCOS driver chip market is dominated by foreign manufacturers. The difficulty lies in the challenges of high frame rate, high resolution interface rate, storage area and logic processing. At the same time, for AR glasses applications, lightweight and low power consumption are two very important points. It is a significant work to study a high resolution micro display LCOS driver chip and consider its miniaturization and low power consumption design.Aiming at the difficulties of storage and power consumption of high resolution micro display LCOS driver chip used in AR glasses,a low power design scheme of compressed area of micro display LCOS driver chip is proposed. This scheme converts the input RGB format into YCbCr data format, compresses and stores the YCbCr data into the storage module, decompression and interpolation of the stored YCbCr data into RGB image display. At the same time, low power design operations such as gating clock, gating data and resource sharing are completed at the code level. The scheme was verified by FPGA.For 1920×1080 resolution, the proposed scheme saves 4MB of driver chip data, accounting for 1/3 of the total cache.Power analysis under PTPX power analysis tool: the power consumption of the chip with the gated clock function enabled is 11.5% of the total power consumption of the chip without the gated clock function enabled. This paper takes the digital IC process as the context of the text structure, and advances from the requirements analysis, algorithm research,FPGA prototype verification,ASIC verification and implementation. In the introduction of ASIC verification and implementation, the functional verification and logic synthesis of the pre-imitation in the digital IC process are described in detail. They include verification processes, ideas, verification results, logical synthesis strategies, logical synthesis operations, and logical synthesis results analysis.
