With the rapid developping of information exchange,both mobile communication and data center has an explosive growth.The optical fiber communication plays an important role due to it's wide bandwidth and large data capacity.The bit error rate tester(BERT)is used to measure the performance of the photoelectric devices and optical fiber transmit channels andit it is the most impotant and major device be used in optical fiber communication field.So,it is meaningful to develop a BERT device which support flexible application and multi-datarate and multiple channel error bit test within single device which has the inexpensive cost.Therefore,considring the requirement,The following contents are mainly studied in this dissertation:Firstly,This dissertation introduced the current situation of BERT test system applied in the optical fiber communication field,which makes it clear that the trend and the demand of the key technology applied in the optical fiber communication industay.Also,it proves the importance and value to develop the high bandwidth,multi-channel BERT.Then,the dissertation clarifies the algorithm and the key technology of the bit error rato test based on the current situation in the optical fiber communication field.Considering the feature of exsited BERT system: single test datarate,single data channel,low wideband;this dissertation aims to introduce a proposal to design a multi-task BERT system with 6 selectable testing channel and surpport selectable testing datarate from 1.25 Gbps to 14.025 Gbps.Finally,this dissertation focus on the development of the BERT system based on the study this dissertation expounded.compared with the BERT devices existed,the new design can support up to 6 channels to measure the bit error ratio with the data rate range from 1.25 Gbps to 14.025 Gbps,which is much better than the BERT device only support single channel with data rate range from 9.953 Gbps to 10.3125 Gbps.This thesis propose a new proposal with feature of low cost?flexible application and it can easily be implemented in optical industry.The performance is validated through actual test requirements prove the feasibility of this proposal and make sure the flexibility and mass production ability in real application.
