Well-developed new media quickly occupied the media market,greatly eroded the market share of traditional media,and urban newspapers with outstanding marketization status were the first to bear the brunt.In order to re-fight readers and obtain market recognition,the Metropolis should develop new media.However,the Metropolis newspaper lost its direction in the process of developing new media.There have been two extreme approaches,either dare to make changes,or just use the new media as a new channel of communication for the print media.Therefore,the new media of the urban newspaper needs to avoid homogeneity and implement differentiated competition strategies.Chongqing Evening News,as a metropolitan newspaper with strong influence in the Chongqing area,built its first slow news app in China,and implemented a differentiated competitive strategy in product image,product content and product service..Summing up the successful experience of slow news APP differentiated competition,it provides a reference for the other urban newspaper to develop new media.In the development of new media,the urban newspaper has to change its current mode of thinking.It must use its own traditional advantages while at the same time heterogeneity throughout the development of new media,and enhance the news of new media.Quality,innovating the profit model and mechanism of new media,building a professional team,and sticking to news professionalism.
