Research On The Image Of Henan In The Internet News Comment

Henan is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River,with a long history and profound cultural background.Due to the support of the government and the efforts of its own,Henan has recently made great progress in politics,economy and culture.As a result of long-term negative reports by the media,however,the province has been beset with stigma and poor regional image.With the development of the Internet,media is no longer the controller of voice while the ordinary people can free their voice.Under the circumstance,has Henan's regional image changed? And what's the image of Henan in the network?In order to seek for the answer,this study selected 56 typical reports on the public events from 2013 to 2017 and related 1680 pieces of net news commentary as the study samples,and conducts a quantitative analysis of the samples through content analysis form the perspectives of Gannim's four dimensions of the media frame:topics related to the news,external performance,and cognitive attributes and emotional attributes of news.We found through the study that Henan's image has been improved to a certain extent in the net news,but it is still biased negatively on the whole.Those images mainly include: a large economic and innovative province,bad management and backward education,a victim frequently suffering from accidents,the instable public security with criminal cases,a typical image good man,corrupt officials and ecological environment to be improved.Through the analysis of sample data and specific cases,this study finds the reasons for the overall poor image of Henan in the network,such as :the improper use of the narrative frame leading to poor image,the agenda setting deepening its stereotype,public emotional expression triggering the regional attack,public preference for negative reports leading to the one-sided cognition,and weak crisis awareness of government image.In view of the above reasons,this study puts forward suggestions for improving the image of Henan from such three aspects as the media,the public and the government.
