As new journalism keep developing,the journalism industry is experiencing a major transformation and a reconstruction.In face of the strong trends of new journalism,the professional mentality of journalists are changing subtlely,and this change,in turn,has a significant and incalculable impact on journalism.The changes and the impact are the basic problem and content of this study.This paper analyzes mental change of journalists and the impact on journalists themselves and on new journalism under the perspective of occupational sociology,takes a case study in Nanchang journalists,uses a combination of questionnaire and in-depth interviews with research methods.It studies occupational choice,occupational stability and cognition of journalists and their process of mental change.The empirical results shows that traditional journalists are less satisfied with their occupation and their occupational stability also decreases.They even demonstrate occupational fatigue to varying degrees.Mentality of traditional journalists is changing due todifference between ideal and reality,between giving and receiving,regulation on occupational behavior,decrease in occupational recognition and in professionalism,etc..Impropriate mental state of journalists will accelerate the elite brain drain in traditional journalism.That situation will in returnlead to “quality crisis” in journalism and cause difficulties in the development of journalism industry.As a result,the serious situation of traditional journalism will turn worse.
