The three-dimensional display technology has shown enormous development in recent years,resulting in increasing attention to stylized rendering in three-dimensional space.Among all the three-dimensional rendering technologies,researches about terrain modeling have been paid more and more attention because of its significant status in graphics applications.This paper puts emphasis on three-dimensional terrain modeling and artistic-style rendering,using the methods of random midpoint displacement and texture mapping,aimed at building an integrated stylized rendering system based on three-dimensional terrain.This paper includes two parts:the terrain modeling part and the artistic-style rendering part.In the terrain modeling part,this paper firstly expounds the concept of fractal geometry and analyzes the application of Fractal Brownian Motion in the terrain modeling.On this basis,this paper proposes the"Diamond-Square" algorithm,which is based on the random midpoint displacement method,to simulate the 3D terrain scene.The core of the algorithm is to initialize four feet point elevation values of one square field with one unit.And then take the operation of midpoint subdivision for each side continuously till reaching the expected precision.In this way,all the squares will be quartered in the next step.Such iterative operation not only refines the original field,but also enhances the density of elevation points.Finally,we can get the ideal terrain model.In the stylized rendering part,the paper adopts the technique of texture mapping to render the sky background and the terrain scene.Based on Visual C++ software platform and OpenGL library,together with the assist of illumination model,the terrain grids are covered with corresponding terrain textures.In order to improve the rendering effect,this paper adopts the hierarchical rendering method.The essential of the method is to match the elevation with the corresponding textures.In the part of sky background rendering,the paper still uses the technique of texture mapping to present the scene of blue sky and white clouds.Finally,a new algorithm for visual transition between texture layers,which is based on texture interlacing,is proposed.It can also give us the enlightenment for further study.Based on the modeling of three-dimensional terrain scene,this paper achieves the whole stylized rendering system of three-dimensional scene and presents the artistic-style rendering effect.I believe it will enlighten the future study of related fields.
