On The Intervention Of Social Working Marriage Problem Of Older Bachelorsin Rural Areas

In recent years,with the prominent impacts of urban and rural economic development and the unbalanced gender structure of the population,major media have started to report the emergence of “single village” and “single town” in many areas.The stability of rural communities is facing threats,thus the marriage problem of old bachelors in rural areas has gradually received more and more attention from the country and society.In a microscopic view,marriage is not just a matter of one person,it is related to the healthy operation of a family;in a macroscopic view,when the marriage problem relates to tens of millions of families,it will cause serious social problems.This article takes old bachelors in M village as the research object,and uses the relevant literatures to collect the current research status about old bachelors in rural areas,as well as the perspectives and methods of intervention.After several interviews on the spot,the author collected first-hand information from old bachelors and their parents ? villagers in M village.Based on the collected data,it was found that old bachelors in M village were facing a great number of problems,like poor economic conditions?gender imbalances in rural area?small scope of activities?less opportunities to contact with the opposite sex and introverted personality,etc.These factors caused their passive non-marriage as well as a series of problems and dilemmas.Under the guidance of theories like marriage squeeze and coupling gradient,the author utilizes the professional knowledge and theory of social work to analyze the current situation and causes of marriage problem among older bachelors in rural areas.Based on the problems found,the author applies the professional method of social work to intervene.By means of case work,it helps to enhance the self-confidence of older bachelors,alleviate the family contradiction caused by marriage problem and maintain the stability of the family state;through group work,it provides the communication platform for older bachelors in M village to solve their problem.At the same time,this study also puts forward the advantages and disadvantages of social work intervention in this problem,and summarizes the reasons for the failure of social work intervention in the community,so as to provide reference for later researches on this topic.
