There are objective problems such as insufficient learning motivation,inappropriate learning method,insufficient autonomous learning ability and critical innovation ability of postgraduates.These problems indicate that the overall level of postgraduates' learning power needs to be improved and also reflect that the quality of postgraduate education still has to be improved very necessarily.With the continuous expansion of postgraduate enrollment scale,the quality of postgraduate education at universities under local authorities should be taken into account particularly.Academic master candidates are reserve force of academic research.Improving their research ability and highlighting their academic specialties are the key to maintain the quality of master's education.Learning power has been considered as a core capability that enables one to continue lifelong learning.Improving learning power of academic master candidates is an effective way to improve the quality of education.In this study,academic master candidates at universities under local authorities(hereafter local universities for short)were selected as the research subjects.The research attempted to exploring and studying the current situation and influencing factors of learning power of postgraduates.Based on the results,it proposed targeted suggestions for the improvement of learning power of academic master candidates at local universities.By sorting out the existing literature and comprehensively considering the learning characteristics of academic master candidates,the questionnaire divided learning power into five elements,including learning motivation,autonomouslearning ability,communication and cooperation ability,innovation ability and resilience.The influencing factors of learning power including individual factors,supervisor factors,the factors of academic cultural and the factors of teaching mode.The questionnaire has classed local universities in three main types including provincial “211” universities,provincial key universities,average local universities.847 valid questionnaires were collected and the effective recovery rate was 93.7%.By analyzing the data,it can be found that the learning power of academic master candidates at local universities was at below-average level,and the development of communication and cooperation ability of master candidates was at the lowest level.Based on the difference analysis of background variables,the data showed that there were significant differences in learning power among master candidates of different genders,grades,types of universities,and plans after graduation,while no significant differences have been found in learning power among master candidates of different disciplines,fresh graduates and non-fresh graduates took postgraduate entrance examination,interdisciplinary and non-interdisciplinary,the first chosen major and not first chosen major.Regression analysis of influencing factors showed that,in terms of individual factors,the sense of self-efficacy,career planning,learning input and subjective initiative had significant prediction effect on learning power of master candidates.Under supervisor factors,the degree and style of supervisor's guidance also had significant prediction effect on learning power of master candidates.The research support under the factors of academic cultural as well as curriculum content and instruction approaches under the factors of teaching mode had significant prediction on the learning power of master candidates.Based on the above conclusions,this dissertation puts forward the following suggestions to improve learning power of academic master candidates at local universities: Clarifying master candidates' professional learning objectives and stimulating the research interest of master candidates.Strengthening the guidance to students' autonomous learning and creating a good atmosphere for autonomous learning.Providing opportunities for communication and cooperation to improve students' communication skills.Paying attention to improve master candidates' structure of knowledge and strengthening scientific research training.Academic master candidates should adjust self-awareness and cultivate the good learning attitude.
