From Beijing To Rio: A Discourse Study Of News Reports On The Three Olympic Games In Sports Weekly

The first modern Olympic Games in 1896 were held in Athens,Greece,under the initiative and organization of Coubertin.So far,31 Summer Olympic Games have been held.The Olympic Games are the global games that have attracted worldwide attention.With the development of economic globalization,there is no doubt that the Olympic Games will promote the development of sports.The power of Olympic culture brings people from different countries and languages together to share the glory of the Olympic Games.At the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games,for the first time,China ranked first with 51 gold medals in the national system,becoming the strongest symbol of China's sports power to convey to the world.However,with the life cycle of the peak of sports,the Chinese delegation won 38 gold medals in the London Olympic Games in2012 and 26 gold medals in the Rio Olympic Games in 2016.While the number of gold medals decreases,the author pays attention to the changes in people's understanding of sports values in the process of the progress of the times,from the image of a gold medal power under the national system to the image of a power that advocates national fitness as the mainstream.The purpose of this study is to analyze the change of Olympic news discourse in Sports Weekly,a professional sports newspaper,and to take news text as the main research object,and to analyze how the media mentality tends to be healthy,inclusive and humanistic,and how to use language texts to disseminate media people's sports values in Olympic reporting,and directly or indirectly affect the audience,forming interaction.The relationship promotes the transformation and development of sports concept.The main research object of this paper is the discourse research of Sports Weekly in news reporting from Beijing Olympic Games to Rio Olympic Games.By using the methods of documentation,comparison,content analysis and text analysis,this paper makes an analysis of the ideological changes in the reporting discourse of the three Olympic Games and the sports values behind it.This article is divided into three chapters: introduction,body,summary and enlightenment.The main contents are arranged according to the three Olympic Games and analyzed by longitudinal comparison.For each Olympic Games,this paper makes a detailed study from two aspects: the theme of the report in Sports Weekly and the voice of another report.Chapter two,the main theme of the discourse of the Beijing Olympic Games is the champion report,while another kind of humanistic voice is the supplementary report.Chapter three,the discourse theme of the London Olympic Games shows the combination of the champion report and dream,and the tendency of speculative reporting.Chapter four,the reporting of the Rio Olympic Games shows themain theme of praise for sports spirit.Finally,it summarizes and enlightens the progress of society and the times.At the same time,the media report keeps pace with the times,grasps the mainstream values and calls for correct sports values to report.
