Research On The Social Work Intervention The Empowerment Of Adults With Intellectual Disabilities

As traditional vulnerable groups,the disabled are groups that need special attention and policy support.Among all types of people with disabilities,people with intellectual disabilities have brains that are different from other people,which shows up when they are young.Adults with intellectual disabilities still have severe physical incoordination and personal incapacity because they are not intervened in the early stage.This problem brings about "marginalization" in society.According to the empowerment theory,there are two main reasons for individual "disability”: From the perspective of individuals,it is difficult for individuals to integrate with the environment,the sense of "powerlessness" is difficult to eliminate,which is easy to generate negative self-evaluation;From the perspective of the environment,there are direct or indirect obstacles in the environment,which are easy to form a negative impact on individuals.People with intellectual disability can still get functional recovery through active rehabilitation,so as to improve their self-care ability and social adaptability.At present,adults with intellectual disabilities still have the following problems: The first is on the individual level,with the syndromes of obstacles in life self-care,cognition and socialization.Long-term closed living environment leads to the degradation of individual ability;Secondly,on the interpersonal level,the adults with intellectual disabilities have no active contact with the outside world.They have limited interaction,and the inferiority and sensitivity make them fail to interact with the surrounding environment,which leads to the "social closed loop";Thirdly,the public acceptance of the intellectual disability is low,and the majority treat the intellectual disabled with pity.Based on this,this research carried out empowerment services for adults with intellectual disabilities in nursing institutions,and applied social work methods and skills in the perspective of empowerment theory to carry out case work and group work.Through practice,it is found that there are still some difficulties in the application of social work to the empowerment services for the intellectual disabled,including: the individual's "helplessness" phenomenon is serious,and the self-determination ability is weak;"incompetent" interpersonal relationship,with a lack of communication opportunities;Environmental inequality,with a lack of social support and other issues.Therefore,countermeasures should be put forward from the aspects of intervention with social work methods,to form a good interpersonal atmosphere for the intellectual disabled,and to increase the social support,so as to further promote the development of the intellectual disabled.
