A Review Of American Chinese Studies In The Framework Of Transnational History

With the rapid development of science and technology,the world has changed a lot since 1950 s,especially the development of communication technology and transportation,which links the world closely.In the study of history,the emergence of new things hits the old research framework,and therefore a new historiography theory,which is adapted to the new trend is needed.Among these theories,the emergence of the transnational history is of great significance.Transnational history is a kind of new history study method and study view that gradually became mature and also be grandly accepted by academic world since 1990 s.The theory is studied mainly in the United States,however,it is the effort of the scholars all over the world.Some academic institutions,such as Origination of American History(OAH)and American History Association(AHA)play an important role in this study.The surpass of the limit of national history,the denationalization in history study,the building of transnational study as research method in history and the changing of transnationalism all have great influence in the develop of transnational history.Transnationalism is an important part in the framework of transnational history study,which based on the study of international immigration by sociologists,it is established by the mature of transnationalism.It provides a rich and reasonable research framework for these new types of immigrant.It is a meaningful framework,so that the achievements of sociology about immigrant has been contained to the transnational history research.So study the characteristics of transnational migration is particularly interesting and necessary for new types of immigrant,not only can make the migration history study in the framework of the transnational history,but it can show the interaction between immigrants and their motherland,in order to bring the research of international migration to a higher level.Because of the complex in transnational immigration study,a breakthrough point is needed,so that to make sense the framework of the migration study in transnational history.So I will use the works of Chinese American study by United States as an example to prove that how to study the immigrant with the framework of transnational history.I choose Chinese American for two reasons,the first one is because United States is the cradle of the transnational history;the second one is because the affect of Chinese culture is profound to Chinese immigrant So the Chinese American is more appropriate than others.Especially in the field of Chinese immigrant study,China and American has more closely relation,because a lot of scholars who study Chinese American is ethnic Chinese,so they always like to introduce their achievements in China.It also can be regard as a interaction between Chinese American and their motherland.So because of the works of Chinese American scholars,the transnational history can be introduced into China quickly,and the interaction between china scholars and American Chinese scholars also can be regard as a transnational history research topic.But the framework of transnational history is neither prefect nor sole in migration study,national history and world history is also an important research method on migration.and the transnational history is a continuous development theory,new things will be accepted constantly.
