In the past ten years,the population aging situation in China's rural society is becoming more and more serious,causing a series of problems of the elderly.More and more scholars believe that providing material care for the rural elderly is important,but with the improvement of living standards,it's particularly urgent for the quality of rural elderly people's life to strengthen the rural elderly mental health care.But in the current research on this subject,there are few special articles about the spirit of the elderly women in the rural,most researches classify the rural elderly women into the rural elderly population,completely ignoring the differences on the mental health of the elderly women and elderly men.Some rural elderly women not only suffer from age discrimination,but also from gender discrimination,which is particularly obvious in rural areas,especially in some remote areas.This paper focuses on the gender differences in the mental health of the elderly in rural areas.the data bases on the interview with the village Z of Henan Province.Through analyzing the data,the problems and needs of the elderly women in rural areas can be discovered.On this basis,it is easy to seek the underlying reasons of this phenomenon.Finally,putting forward feasible solutions from the perspective of gender to improve the women's quality of life and the construction of harmonious rural services.
