Research On The Pure Land Thought Of Master Yin Guang

This paper studies the Master Yin Guang's pure land thought by combining the observation of social phenomena with the text.analysis,which is rarely involved by scholars.Specializing in the Pure Land Sect,master Yin Guang tried his best to protect other sects and use the strategies to deal with the relationship between the Confucianism and the Buddhism.The paper is divided into three parts.The first part mainly discusses the background and main content of the formation of Yin Guang's pure land thought.In the face of the collapse of the old ethics in modern society and the impact of Western civilization,master Yin Guang put forward a set of new methods and a new system to govern the society from the perspective of faith.The concept of "pure land judgment" holds that the Pure Land Buddhism is a "special method",which highlights its particularity and superiority from different aspects such as the characteristics of the times and the wisdom of the masses.On the basis of inheriting the ancient masters' theory,the pure land cultivation concept emphasizes that "du she liu gen,jing nian xiang ji " is an important way to rebirth in the pure land,"xin yuan xing "is a necessary condition,"yi xin bu luan" is the realm of chanting Amitabha,and "dai ye wang sheng" is the embodiment of the superiority of the Pure Land Sect.The second part mainly studies the relationship between Pure Land Sect,ZenSect,Huayan sect and Tiantai Sect.Since the Song Dynasty,the Zen Sect and Pure Land Sectwere in the mainstream of Buddhism.Yin Guang believes that the Buddhist scriptures are too profound and complicated to fully understand the meaning.The practice of the Pure Land Sect can be used by people with different level of wisdom,which is more safe and secure than the Zen Sect.When investigating Huayan sect,Yin Guang attached great importance to the "shi da xing yuan " of Bodhisattvas,which served as the theoretical basis for guiding them to the"Amitabha pure land".There is a close relationship between the Pure Land Sect and the Tiantai Sect.Master Yin Guang persuades the believer to return to the pure land according to the theoretical doctrines of the Tiantai Sect and the deeds of past ancestors.The third part summarizes the definition of the relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism."Thirteen Classics"is the classic of Confucianism.When Yin Guang became a monk,he publicized the true meaning of Confucianism and printed Confucian classics.On this basis,Yin Guang summarized the loyalty and filial piety thought of Confucianism and Buddhism,enlarged the connotation of "loyalty and filial piety" and regarded it as the basis of all ethical norms,which is the program of building achievements and the cornerstone of becoming saints and sages."Baju jiao" is regarded as the essence of the relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism by master Yin Guang.According to the classics of Confucianism and Buddhism,Yin Guang believes that the relationship between Confucianism and Buddhism is "harmonious but different".The general feature of Yin Guang's pure land thought lies in its integration of thought.Combining with the background of chaotic environment and the level of wisdom,master Yin Guang provided a set of belief system for governing chaotic times,settling down body and mind of the masses.
