Objectives: We aim to investigate the status of social support given by family members, friends, colleagues, employers and other people in type 2 diabetes patients and their high-risk groups,to explore the relationship between social support and glycemic control, and to find effective non-pharmacological treatments for blood glucose management.Methods:(1)We recruited type 2 diabetes patients and high-risk groups who came to our hospital endocrinology clinic from July to December 2018.And the new diagnosis of type 2 diabetes patients in high-risk groups were found by doing OGTT.The results were combined with experimental results and medical history. There were 253 cases of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and 255 cases of high risk group(HRDM).According to the results of glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c),the T2 DM group was divided into a well-controlled(BC)group and a poor control(PC)group.(2)A questionnaire survey of the Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)was conducted on the subjects.(3)Body composition measurement was performed using a TBF-410 body composition tester.(4)Pearson correlation analysis and logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the relationship between social support and glycemic control in type 2 diabetes and high-risk groups, and the influence of body composition on blood glucose control.Results:1.The general situation comparison of the HRDM group and the T2 DM group: Compared the HRDM group with the T2 DM group, there were no statistical significance in difference of height, ethnicity, education level, and income(p>0.05).Meanwhile the occupational type differences were statistically significant(p<0.05).These subjects who were in HRDM group had lower age, weight, and BMI than ones in T2 DM group, the statistical difference was significant(p < 0.05).2.Correlation between social support scores and blood glucose: The total scores and objective scores of social support in the HRDM group were negatively correlated with HbA1 c and fasting blood glucose levels, with statistical difference significant(p<0.05).There was no significant statistical difference between the subjective support scores and the support utilization scores in glycosylated hemoglobin levels(p >0.05).The social support scores and the scores of each dimension in the T2 DM group were negatively correlated with HbA1 c,fasting blood glucose, and OGTT 120 min blood glucose levels, and the difference was significant(p<0.05).Compared BC group with the PC group, the partial regression coefficient of the social support score was-0.381,the OR value was 0.683,and the 95% CI was(0.618,0.755).The difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).3.Comparison of body composition levels between HRDM group and T2 DM group shows: Compared with the HRDM group,T2 DM group's weight(64.29±14.17 kg vs 68.38±12.77 kg),body fat(18.89±7.86 kg vs 20.33±6.95 kg),muscle content(42.90±9.43 kg vs 48.10±9.60 kg),the visceral fat rating(7.88±4.09 vs 10.11±4.23)was higher than that of the HRDM group, and the difference was significant(p<0.05).4.Correlation between body composition and blood sugar: The visceral fat of those in HRDM group was positively correlated with fasting blood glucose and OGTT 120 min blood glucose level which the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).And it was positively correlated with HbA1 c which the difference was not statistically significant(p>0.05).For the T2 DM group, there was no correlation between body composition and HbA1 c,fasting blood glucose and OGTT 120 min blood glucose levels(p>0.05).Conclusions:1.Good social support can help type 2 diabetes patients to control their blood glucose, and it's also a protective factor for glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes;2.Social support may help high-risk groups of type 2 diabetes to control their blood glucose by reducing their weight especially visceral fat;...
