| ObjectiveThrough the intervention of inhalation aromatherapy on malignant tumor patients receiving cisplatin chemotherapy, the effects of inhalation aromatherapy on patients with acute and delayed nausea and vomiting and other chemotherapy-related concomitant symptoms were observed, and the influence of inhalation aromatherapy on patients’ quality of life was also discussed.MethodThis was an quasi-experimental study.A total of 76 malignant tumor patients receiving cisplatin + paclitaxel(TP)chemotherapy in the department of oncology,Lanzhou city a third class a hospital from July 2018 to June 2019 were selected.According to the order of admission time,38 patients receiving TP chemotherapy from July 2018 to December 2018 were divided into the control group, and 38 patients receiving TP chemotherapy from January 2019 to June 2019 were divided into the intervention group. The control group received routine antiemetic treatment, diet care and health education, the intervention group received inhalation aromatherapy intervention on the basis of the control group,in the specific program, the researcher took 2 drops of ginger essential oil and put them on the cotton balls. The cotton balls with essential oil were placed in a disposable urine cup with a lid and placed beside the patient’s pillow, about 20 cm from the patient’s nose.During chemotherapy, intervention begins 30 minutes before the onset of chemotherapy, intervention started at 9 am 1-4 days after chemotherapy, twice a day,in the morning and afternoon, perform an aromatherapy intervention and replace absorbent cotton balls.Starting from the second day of chemotherapy, the occurrence of nausea and vomiting in the first day was recorded by MAT scale at 9:30 every morning as a fixed time, and other chemotherapy-related associated symptom scales were filled in,and FLIE scale was filled in on the fifth day after the end of chemotherapy. For patients discharged within 1-4 days after chemotherapy, telephone follow-up at 9:30 every morning recorded the part of the delay period of MAT scale,on the 5th day after the end of chemotherapy, the electronic FLIE scale was sent to the patients to fill in and return, patients who could not fill in the electronic version were asked over the phone and recorded by the investigator.ResultA total of 73 patients completed the trial, including 37 in the intervention group and 36 in the control group, the results of the study showed:(1)Comparison of incidence of nausea: there was no significant difference in the incidence of nausea in the acute phase D1,D2,D3 and delayed phase D4 between the two groups of patients(P>0.05),the incidence of nausea in D5,D6 and D7 in the delayed phase of chemotherapy was lower in the intervention group than in the control group(P<0.05).(2)Comparison of the severity of nausea: the severity of nausea in the acute phase D1,D2,D3 and delayed phase D4,D5,D6,D7 of cisplatin chemotherapy in the intervention group was lower than that in the control group, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)Comparison of incidence of vomiting: there was no statistically significant difference in the incidence of vomiting between the acute phase D1,D2,D3 and the delayed phase D5,D6 between the two groups of patients(P>0.05),Only the incidence of vomiting in the delayed phase D4 and D7 of chemotherapy was lower in the intervention group than in the control group(P<0.05).(4)Comparison of vomiting frequency: there was no significant difference in the vomiting frequency of D1,D2,and D3 in the acute phase between the two groups(P>0.05),but the vomiting frequency of the delayed phase D4,D5,D6,and D7 was significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control group(P<0.05).(5)Comparison of quality of life scores: the quality of life scores of the intervention group(101.73 ± 15.03 points)were higher than those of the control group(90.69 ± 19.84 points),and the differences in the quality of life scores between the two groups were statistically significant(P<0.05).(6)Comparison of chemotherapy-related concomitant symptoms: the intervention group reduced the incidence of headache, dizziness, and insomnia after cisplatin chemotherapy(P<0.05),but there was no significant difference between the two groups in the incidence of bloating, diarrhea, and constipation(P>0.05).Conclusion(1)Inhaled aromatherapy can significantly reduce the severity of chemotherapy nausea and the frequency of vomiting in the delayed phase, but it is ineffective in controlling the incidence of vomiting, the incidence of nausea in the acute phase, and the frequency of vomiting.(2)Inhaled aromatherapy can improve the quality of life of patients.(3)Inhaled aromatherapy can effectively alleviate the symptoms of headache, dizziness and insomnia in chemotherapy patients, and has no obvious improvement on symptoms of diarrhea, bloating and constipation. |
