Objective:To observe the clinical effect of acupotomy on nerve root symptoms caused by lumbar disc herniation(LDH)and compare with traditional acupuncture treatment. Therefore,a more appropriate solution was found for the treatment of nerve root symptoms caused by LDH,and the clinical treatment methods with high feasibility could be promoted and implemented. Methods:In this study,60 patients with LDH who were admitted to the orthopaedic department of sichuan orthopaedic hospital from May 2019 to January 2020 were selected on the basis of a Randomized controlled trial(RCT).60 patients with LDH who met the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups, including 30 patients in the treatment group(acupotomology)and 30 patients in the control group(traditional acupuncture treatment). The treatment group received acupotomology once every 7days,3 times for 1 course of treatment,a total of 1 course of treatment,a total of 14days;The control group received 5 times of traditional acupuncture treatment every 7days,2 days of rest,10 times for 1 course of treatment,a total of 14 days. Before and after the two groups after treatment, the symptoms of nerve root to improve the degree of modified the Japanese orthopaedic association(M-JOA),pain(by the degree of pain, nature, the patient’s bad mood of improvement(short form Mc Gill pain questionnaire)were evaluated, including short form Mc Gill pain questionnaire contains Visual analog score(VAS).Results:In the baseline study between the treatment group and the control group, there were no statistically significant differences in age, gender, location of disc herniation, duration of disease,m-joa before treatment,VAS score, and degree of comprehensive pain perception between the two groups(p > 0.05).In the treatment group, the clinical cure rate was 50.00%,the apparent efficiency was 30.00%,the effective rate was 13.33%,and the total effective rate was 93.33%.Control group: the clinical cure rate was 23.33%,the apparent efficiency was 36.67%,the effective rate was 26.67%,and the total effective rate was 86.67%.The difference between the two groups was statistically significant(p < 0.05).The comprehensive pain improvement degree of the two groups before and after treatment(simple Mc Gill pain questionnaire)was statistically significant(p < 0.05).Conclusion:Acupotomy was significantly different from traditional acupuncture for LDH in symptom relief of nerve root and changes of comprehensive pain sensation before and after treatment.Acupotomology has obvious curative effect, less pain and higher safety in the treatment of nerve root symptoms caused by LDH,and its clinical value needs to be developed and popularized.
