Clinical Study Of Shenling Baizhu Powder In Treating Gastrointestinal Dysfunction In Patients With Severe Pneumonia

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of Shenling Baizhu Powder in the treatment of gastrointestinal dysfunction in patients with severe pneumonia.Methods: A prospective randomized controlled trial design was used to screen 64 patients with severe pneumonia complicated with gastrointestinal dysfunction in the hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between December 2018 and December 2019.Control group,32 cases in each group.The control group was treated with basic western medicine,and the observation group was treated with Shenling Baizhu Powder combined with basic western medicine for 14 days.The gastrointestinal dysfunction scores,intra-abdominal pressure,bowel sound frequency,and appetite visual analog score were observed in the two groups,Inflammation indicators,clinical lung infection scores and changes in safety indicators.Results: 1.Analysis of baseline data: The baseline data of the two groups were compared before treatment,and they were consistent.2.Clinical effect analysis: After 14 days of treatment,the effective rate in the observation group was 90.00%,and the effective rate in the control group was 67.74%.Comparing the effective rates between the groups,the clinical effect in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group(p <0.05).3.Changes in gastrointestinal function: The comparison of changes in gastrointestinal dysfunction scores,intra-abdominal pressure,bowel sounds,and appetite visual analog scores before and after treatment in the two groups were statistically significant(p <0.05).4.Changes in CPIS scores: The CPIS scores of the two groups of patients decreased after treatment compared with those before treatment,and the observation group changed more significantly than the control group(p <0.05).5.Changes in inflammation indicators: After treatment,the mean values of serum WBC,CRP,and PCT in the two groups were significantly lower than before.There was no significant difference between the groups(p> 0.05).6.Subgroup analysis: After 14 days of treatment,the gastrointestinal dysfunction score and appetite visual analog score of the elderly patients significantly improved,the number of bowel sounds increased significantly,and the intra-abdominal pressure decreased significantly.The effect of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group.7.Safety analysis: There were no serious adverse reactions during the treatment of the two groups of patients,and the safety indicators before and after treatment did not change significantly.Conclusions: 1.Shenling Baizhu powder can alleviate the clinical symptoms of severe pneumonia patients with gastrointestinal dysfunction,improve gastrointestinal function,shorten the recovery time of gastrointestinal function,and reduce the severity of the disease;2.Shenling Baizhu Powder has a more significant improvement in gastrointestinal function in the elderly,indicating that the combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine has a more prominent clinical effect on elderly patients with severe pneumonia and gastrointestinal dysfunction;3.The safety of Shenling Baizhu Powder is good.
